"The $60 tune up package wasn't nearly enough to cover the amount of repairs needed for our AC unit, but I knew the amount of work would be outside the scope of the deal.  The repairman came in and inspected the unit and walked me through all of the repairs that would be needed.  He also made suggestions to help maximize the life of our unit.  Our AC hasn't worked this well since we moved into the house years ago.

Door Repair questions, answered by experts

Screen doors (sometimes called barrier doors) and security doors serve different primary functions. A screen door's main purpose is to allow airflow and keep pests out, featuring a lightweight frame and a mesh screen. A security door, however, is a heavy-duty structure designed to prevent unauthorized entry. Security doors are installed with permanent screws into the home's walls and are often equipped with deadbolts or other heavy-duty locking mechanisms for enhanced protection against intruders.

The cost to repair a sliding glass door is $225 on average. Your total cost could be as low as $50 for a new door handle, or $635 or more for replacing broken glass in your sliding door. Not only does the type of repair impact the total cost of this project, but the location of the door does, too. For instance, the cost to repair an exterior sliding door costs more than the repairs of an interior sliding door, like a shower door.

The lock block will either be built-in on the side of the door or run from the top to the bottom. Usually, there is a marking that indicates its location. You can also tap the door with the back of a screwdriver to find the lock block like you would find a stud in a wall.

To reset cabinet doors, start by loosening the hinge screws slightly. Align the door properly with the cabinet frame, ensuring even gaps around the edges. Tighten the screws to hold the position. If the door is still misaligned, fine-tune the alignment by making small adjustments.  Afterward, ensure the door opens and closes smoothly.

You put shims between the three-sided frame to which the door hinges are attached and the framing of the rough wall opening. Using shims like this will center your door in the wall opening and allows you to make small adjustments to get your door plumb and level for smooth operation. Your shims and the gap they fill will be covered when you install door trim, so don’t worry too much about the appearance.
