Back side of the barn, tree leaning on the ridge and had rubbed a hole 2 feet long and 6 inches wide causing leaks, the tree was going to cause further structural damage and thus needed to be removed.

You should avoid cutting off the top of mature cherry trees. This process is called tree topping, and it’s not recommended for cherry trees—or any trees, for that matter.
