"Literally a truckload of dirt and old insulation was removed from a crawlspace under a town house. Openings in the foundation were sealed or covered, the floor was swept clean and the crawlspace walls sprayed with insulating foam. 2-day job in tough conditions and with limited city parking, professionally and efficiently executed, indeed resulting in a perfect crawlspace. There are a few ways to figure out if your walls are plaster or drywall, but the pushpin method is probably the easiest option. To try it, choose a part of your wall where you can insert a pushpin or thumbtack without leaving an obvious mark. If it goes in easily, you have drywall. But if the wall is tough to penetrate, that’s plaster.

You should always hang drywall from the top down. Starting at the top makes it easier to create a straight, tight line between the ceiling and the wall. Any gaps that occur will be at the bottom, where they are easier to manage. You can either cut the bottom piece of drywall to fit the remaining space or cover the gap with baseboard trim.
