"I wanted to reduce the solar effects of the southern and western exposure windows in my new house not only because of the heat in the summer, but also because of the harmful UV light and the fading it would cause to my new furniture. No, not every window has movable sashes. Many fixed or stationary windows that were intended only to provide views and sunlight still have inoperable sashes that allow them to match the rest of the windows in a home.
