If you’re concerned about people climbing over your gate, you can deter them by installing fence spikes along the top as an extra precaution.

Electric gates have a manual override switch that detaches the motor from the opening mechanism. For most gates, this requires a key as a deterrent to thieves or trespassers forcing open your gate. Be aware that many automatic or electric gates are very heavy, so it may be difficult to close the gate if you are fine with manually opening it.
