"Ray left us a message twice to set up a date and time to review our siding that was flapping due to the wind. He arrived on time with his coworker and fixed the siding. They also checked around the house for any other loose panels. We will call them for other jobs we need done on the house."

"[email protected], [email protected] {Spouse} Roofing was great, REALLY LOVE what was done with the facial boards. No searching for painter to fix boards and paint, rotted boards and other areas fixed and LOOKS very good to the eye. However, There were several nails left in the yard (I've picked up 9 so far, Son has picked up 4). As a matter of fact, we got a flat with one of your nails stuck in the tire. {Same nails used on roofing, which is why I gave Overall a 4, other than the fact that there's ALWAYS room for improvement} Overall, love what was done!!! Thanks Power!"

"The contracted the work off to a third party. Jon took longer than expected. The windows was installed pretty good from the looks. Communication could have been better with knowing the job will take longer and what types of trims I wanted for the windows. As the contractor that was hired for this job by this company. Did a good job with putting up decent trim. As for the new windows they look great. I purchased the myself and hired sentri homes to install them. I will need to have a my siding on my house redone to be closer to the new windows so the gaps are not so obvious. That was not expected at first. But from old storm windows and not knowing how they were put in originally. There was some unknown things that was learned from the job being completed. I will have the siding of the house slightly done to match really good for what I wanted later on. My only concern is better communication with sentri homes. Overall they were great when I did talk to them."

Siding questions, answered by experts

Pressure washing shou sugi ban siding is generally not a good idea. The charring process used in creating shou sugi ban siding involves burning the wood's surface to achieve its unique appearance and enhanced durability. The charred surface is delicate, and pressure washing can easily damage it. Instead of pressure washing, you can clean it with a soft brush or broom to remove loose debris, followed by a mixture of mild soap and water applied with a soft cloth or sponge.

You should consider acclimating the wood for your shou sugi ban siding for around two weeks before installation to balance its moisture content and prevent warping. That additional step will ensure your materials are prepped for installation, avoiding complex repairs down the line. Consult your siding contractor for additional installation instructions for this specialized material.

You may only need to repaint fiber cement siding every decade or so, but you should clean it every six to 12 months, depending on your local climate. First, wash with a garden hose or similar low-pressure device (not a high-pressure washer, which can damage the material) to remove dirt and any large debris. Then, gently wipe down the surface with a soft brush or cloth in a side-to-side motion, following the grain of the fiber cement.

Consider your home's architectural style, neighborhood guidelines, and the vendor's options. Samples and software previews can help visualize the final result.

Many modern homes have soffits, but older ones don’t, and you may be wondering why. Older homes have eaves that extend further beyond the home and help to circulate air, negating the need for a soffit. This style of building has faded away, therefore, modern homes need separate soffit installation. Modern soffits are more efficient than this older style and require less material to construct, saving homeowners money.
