"Hired these guys to replace a hot water heater. While unpacking it in the driveway, a careless installer threw the packaging material and it landed on our car, denting the hood. They immediately acknowledged what they had done, called their office, spoke to someone named Dave, who reportedly advised us they would take care of the damage and would be in touch soon to make arrangements for repairs. That was the last time we heard from these clowns. "Dave", whoever he is, never called back, and failed to return numerous phone calls. In other words, he ghosted us. Bottom line on these morons - hell will freeze over long before I'll ever use them again. "

"Our relationship with All Star Mechanical began with Chris coming out to diagnose my AC problem. He tested the system and diagnosed it as low on refrigerant likely due to a leak. We asked to get a quote on replacing the AC and the entire HVAC system. The furnace was a 25 year old Trane. The air filter was 1in thick and struggled to blow through a non-MERV filter, and I wanted cleaner air for the health of my family, especially since wildfires aren't going away anytime soon. We also wanted a whole house humidifier to assist the Vornado units we run 24/7 in the winter. Larry presented us with a variety of options for upgrading my HVAC system, not trying to sell me a system too large and expensive for our needs or climate, then explaining how everything works and how it works together to make our home efficient, safe, clean, and comfortable. The installation team was fantastic. They were scheduled for a 2 day installation and over performed installing the entire system in one day. Matthew and the 2 Nicks were great! Within 2 hours of installing the General Aire MAC high efficiency air cleaner we noticed the air felt and smelled cleaner, in spite of the poor air advisory warning for that day. Finally, Chris buttoned the system up completely by running updated thermostat wiring and relocated my thermostat so the new system is compatible with my ADT Z-Wave ADC -T2000 monitored thermostat (my request)! Throughout the entire job, Larry stayed in touch, either by email, phone, or text to make sure everything met or exceeded our expectations. They are definitely All Stars!"

Clean Sweeps of Michigan was founded in Clarklake in 1980 by a local fireman and eventually sold to long-time employee, Cliff Slagle. We provide the best in chimney and dryer vent care to our family, friends and neighbors throughout Mid-Michigan, Northern Indiana and Northern Ohio, and have maintained the highest standards since our inception. Our team of Chimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA)-certified chimney sweeps have always been dedicated to keeping your chimneys and dryer vents as clean and as safe as possible. "The old fireplace was rusted and had to be replaced together with the flue and the covers at the top of the chimney. The project was done on time and at the cost within the limits quoted initially. There were no cost surprises at the end of the project. They also work with a credit company that can finance the project for a good deal (no interest for 18 months at that time). The team was professional and they finished the work on time (the actual work took about two days). The cost was maybe a bit more pricey than the average, but the job was well done and without extra costs or surprises at the end."

There are a few things that you can look out for that indicate that you need duct sealing, but the two most critical ones are less comfortable air in your living space and increased utility bills. If you notice that you’re paying more often for HVAC servicing and maintenance, that could suggest that you need duct sealing, as well, as leaks put added strain on your system. You may also notice musty odors in parts of your home, as leaks can lead to condensation on your air ducts that can promote mold growth behind your walls.

Any unexplained smell in your house should be investigated. However, some home odors are "red flag" worrisome because they pose immediate health and safety risks. Odors should be taken seriously when accompanied by headaches, nausea, or lightheadedness. If you smell an egg-like aroma, this is probably natural gas. You should leave the home immediately, and  contact your gas company.  

You should have your HVAC serviced at least once per year. A HVAC pro can perform maintenance twice a year if your unit is older or has many issues. You can expect to pay between $100 and $550 for HVAC maintenance, which includes a thorough tune-up, routine service, proactive and reactive maintenance, and emergency maintenance services.

Covering air vents in unused rooms doesn’t help the HVAC system's performance or save money on energy bills. Avoid covering vents with furniture if at all possible when you are trying to get more air flow from vents. Blocking, covering, or closing vents just causes more problems than it potentially would solve.
