Fix-It Man is RRP (Renovation, Repair, and Painting) Certified by EPA as well as Maine Weatherization tech certified. The owner, Vincent Veligor is also a Licensed Construction Superintendent. After contacting us, we’ll set up a “meet and greet” to get acquainted and review the project and provide an estimate of the time or cost. For bigger projects, we ask that you sign a contract and in some cases where there are significant material costs or special order items, we require an up-front payment. For longer projects we may do interim invoicing; otherwise we bill for the project when it is complete and we request that you pay us upon receipt of the invoice.

Glass fibers are often used in HEPA filters because of their high efficiency, durability, and thermal stability. Some HEPA filters are made with synthetic fibers, but they may not be as effective. While there is some fiberglass shedding, as long as the HEPA filter is intact and not cut open, the amount of fiberglass released by a HEPA filter is well below the breathable particulate matter.

Fiberglass is considered a favorite garage insulation choice due to its combination of affordability, ease of installation, and overall effectiveness. Fiberglass provides good thermal resistance, helping regulate garage temperatures and minimize heat transfer. Additionally, fiberglass is moisture-resistant, reducing the risk of mold or mildew formation.

There are two places where you should not place foam insulation: around electrical boxes or near lightboxes. The foam insulation could get inside the electrical boxes and damage the wiring. Spraying foam too close to a lightbox creates a potential fire hazard; it could also cause damage to the light.

Unfaced wall insulation is easier to cut and install, making it the better choice for a DIY project. It’s also more affordable. But if it’s unfaced, you’ll likely need to add a vapor barrier to reach your desired R-value and efficiency, as it doesn’t offer any moisture barrier.

Faced insulation uses paper or foil to create a built-in barrier and doesn’t require an extra step. It’s also more fire-resistant and safe. But it’s quite a bit more expensive and a little bit harder to work with as a DIYer.
