They agreed to a job that was around $2100K. Once they had already cut into my house creating a giant hole from the interior to the exterior, they said that the job was bigger than they thought and they would have to add on $4-5K of work. What was I supposed to do at that point with the back half of my house exposed? Tell them no, just forget about it and leave my house with a giant hole in it? I had no choice but to agree to the additional amount because at that point, they had cut out a giant hole in the back of my house and I needed the hole to be closed.
Part of this job included fixing a double-door that goes from my living room to the desk. The double-door that was hard to open. They said it was due to the water leak and that they could fix it. I was told I needed new flashing, new siding, new cedar siding, new caulking, new paint, and that the leak was coming in due to a door being installed improperly and missing flashing. I went along with all of their recommendations.
Now I can't open the double-door at all. Before it was hard to open, now it's impossible to open. In fact in trying to open the door, the door cracked so I gave up on trying to open it. There is no possible way to open the door. When the door is shut, you cannot turn the dead-bolt because the dead-bolt is not lined up properly. This door worked better before I paid them to "fix" it.
Cutting to the chase, this past weekend I found water in my basement in the exact spot that I had pointed out to them when they first came over to give me the estimate. The leak is not fixed. In fact, the leak was not coming from outside the house. I hired a plumber who identified it as an internal leak due to an issue with a pipe that had an improper fitting on it. So even if the flashing, and door installation etc.. was not optimal or proper, basically, that was not the source of the leak. Water was running down inside the wall and was coming from a pipe. I had suggested to the original estimator (Kevin Youngblood) that he should take into consideration that the leak could be coming from an internal pipe. However, he didn't check anything related to pipes insisting that the leak was due to a door being improperly installed.
I had originally believed Clarksville Construction that the leak was fixed, and then hired them to do additional painting 6 months later at the cost of an additional $2,000. However, within a few weeks of the painting being finished, the painting work is now ruined because water started leaking in to the house in the same spot. I called Clarksville Construction immediately when the leak was occurring and they were not apologetic in any way. They told me to call ServePro and said there was nothing they could do about it. I turned off the water to my entire house. On the following Monday, I called a plumber to see if he could identify the cause of the leak. The plumber identified the leak as coming from improper plumbing fittings and he had to replace several pipes and had to cut 3 different holes in my ceiling to fix the leak. The leak has been fixed, thanks to the plumber, but there are still 3 holes in my ceiling.
Clarksville Construction took down the blinds in my living room when they were painting. Now the blinds will not stay up at all. Both blinds continue to come crashing down. I'm having the company that installed the blinds come back over and re-install them. These blinds cost around $500.00. I told Clarksville Construction about the blinds and they said nothing...not even an apology.
3 days after the plumber had fixed the leak, two guys from Clarksville Construction came over to my house. This is now 5 days from the day the leak occurred. The two guys were Adam August (company owner) and Garth Finney (a new employee). Garth was personable and told me that I would be so happy with the company's resolution, that I'd be wanting to sit down and have coffee with him. Adam August looked as the leak area and said that it was a new and different leak, and not the same as the leak they had fixed. I'd like to point out that Mr. August never saw the original leak from inside my basement and this was the first time he had looked at the work area. I told him that the water was in the exact same spot as it was when they first came over to give the original estimate. He kept insisting it was a new leak caused by something else. I showed him how the door wouldn't open and he said I should have reported it sooner. I told him that I seldom use the door and only tried opening it the week before Christmas when I tried to open it to bring in a Christmas tree and discovered it wouldn't open.
The entire time they were working on my house, I can't remember how many times I was told that they gave a 5 year warranty. Even though I have reported these problems to them, they have not offered to take responsibility for any of these issues. After coming over to see the new damage caused by the leak, they sent me a proposal to do further work at a further cost to me. They refused to fix the doors (which they had already fixed once) unless I paid them more money. Their proposal suggested I pay them to cut holes into my attic and around my gutters so that they could investigate for further leaks. They did not offer to fix the doors that don't open. They did not offer to repair the drywall caused by the leak. Their 5 year warranty is hogwash. They didn't offer to take any responsibility for the leak and leak damage. They only offered to sell me more services.
Originally they had said that in order to prevent the leak, I should put in new siding, new Tyvek, new caulking etc.. etc.. They replaced some wood that was rotten as a result of the leak, but that was secondary to actually fixing the leak. The primary thing I wanted done was to have the leak fixed. The suggested fixing a load-baring floor joist, and I agreed to it, but then found out that they never obtained the requisite building permit. Fixing the damage caused by the leak was always secondary. They kept trying to point out more and more stuff that I should have fixed suggesting that it would help prevent the leak from recurring. Since none of the $7,000 worth of work they did to fix the leak actually fixed it, they basically sold me services that were not needed. When they were at my house working on the leak, they actually never did any research into investigating if the leak was coming from any pipes because they claimed to be so sure it was coming from the sill of the door. There was rotten wood under the sill of the door, but it was rotten because water was coming from a pipe, through the wall, and trickling down to that exact spot.
The only person at the company who was somewhat conciliatory was Garth but I think that is because Garth did not work for the company when the original work occurred, and obviously had nothing to do with the original work.
At first I thought that perhaps the fact that their repair did not fix the leak was simply human error. They made the wrong judgement call. However, since they were so unapologetic and took no responsibility to resolve the situation, and did not honor their so called 5 year warranty, and only suggested I buy more services from them, I now believe that they were disingenuous and deceptive from the get go. I don't think they actually have any plumbers on staff even though I was told they did. I think they are not capable of determining if a leak is due to an internal pipe or an external construction issue. This is a company that does external construction work. They should have been up front about it saying that plumbing was not part of their core competency. I had interviewed several other contractors who were more honest saying that they could not be sure where the leak was coming from.
It was very disappointing to me that they would not honor their 5 year warranty on anything --"},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/md/hanover/clarksville-construction-services%2C-inc-reviews-4641924.htm"},"position":6},{"@type":"ListItem","item":{"@type":"LocalBusiness","name":"Peace of Mind Landscape Construction","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressRegion":"ME","addressCountry":"US"},"review":{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"Paul T."},"reviewBody":"Process was great. Concrete Finishing reviews from real Angi homeowners in Rangeley, ME
It was perfect from start to finish. MPC was professional, came exactly when they said they would, were very helpful in explaining what they were doing and made it clear that they would come back if we still saw ants after one month. I still had ants and they came back, no questions asked....

FAQs for concrete finishing projects in Rangeley, ME
Concrete repair costs range anywhere from about $0.10 to $0.15 per linear foot to fill minor cracks, to about $6 to $14 per square foot to replace damaged concrete slabs. Repair costs vary widely depending on the size and type of work needed. For example, replacing 100 square feet of driveway will cost between $600 to $1,400, on average.
The average cost of stamped concrete is around $12 per square foot, but you might pay anywhere from $8 to $28 per square foot. The average 12-foot by 12-foot patio costs $1,730 on average. Your exact pricing will depend on the patio’s square footage, the condition of the area where you want to pour the concrete, the desired stamp pattern, concrete coloring, concrete grade, and local labor prices. Don’t forget to budget for extra costs like land preparation and additional concrete fortifications if necessary.
Depending on the cost to repair your driveway, it may be more cost effective to tear out and replace it with a new concrete driveway. The cost to repave a driveway ranges between $1,400 and $12,100, including removal of the old concrete. Contact a reputable concrete contractor for advice and an estimate. They may have a good reason for going with repairs or replacement after assessing your driveway. You may also have the option to resurface your driveway or pave over it without taking out the existing one.
It’s possible to create stamped concrete yourself, but we don’t recommend it and it’s often not cost-effective. It’s easy to mess up the pattern of a stamped concrete patio or walkway, leaving you with an unsightly home exterior rather than the elegant solution you wanted. Any mistakes made during the ground leveling and concrete pouring process will also increase the risk of cracks forming on your concrete. Additionally, buying enough stamps to get the pattern in before your concrete cures can cost as much as hiring a professional to do the work for you.
Concrete contractors typically charge anywhere from $6 to $14 per square foot. Cost factors include job size, site prep, base material, accessibility, your location, concrete finish, and concrete thickness. Removal of existing concrete, asphalt, deck, pavers, and grass will cost anywhere from $1 to $6 per square foot. Homeowners can often save money by removing and disposing of existing pavers, decks, and grass. Breaking up and hauling away concrete and asphalt is difficult and time-consuming without the proper equipment and may be worth having the pros do that work.
