"They were so fast and accommodated my wishes to keep some cross cuts of the stump! They were smiling and laughing the whole time which made the sadness of the tree coming down a little easier. Will definitely call them again if we need anything else done."

"Great group of guys! They completed a big task in my yard with multiple big hemlocks and pine. They also removed a huge brush pile that was in my yard from other trees I cut down. Great price and amazing work! Highly recommend them!"

"This was the only company that gave me an estimate and showed up with copies of his insurance, required licenses, and information about his company. He also said he did not want any payment until the jib was done and I was happy with his work. My estimate included trimming 3 trees, removing 2 trees and grinding both stumps. The price was less than some of the bigger companies estimated to remove just one tree. Their work was excellent. They used leaf blowers to remove all the sawdust from lawn and also took a pile of brush they saw sitting in my yard. To be honest, I was afraid to get the final bill because the quality of work and the price seemed too good to be true. However, the final price was the same as the estimate I was quoted. This is a small, family owned company that does quality work and care about what their customers think. Harold is just a decent, honest man and I was so impressed with him and his team. KB Tree is the only company I will call when I need tree work or one of the other services he also offers."

"My yard was an overgrown mess of a jungle. Derrick came in, gave me a very reasonable quote, explaining everything he was going to do. He was true to his word. The work he did was pretty amazing. My yard has been reclaimed and he is now my yard guy for all future work. You can’t go wrong with Derrick and Poland Property Management!!"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Surface-level tree roots might only pose a small threat, such as being a tripping hazard or obstacle when you mow your lawn. But if mature tree roots start growing in the direction of your home’s foundation or plumbing system, it could be a real problem. Cutting small tree roots out before they grow too large can keep your home safe without removing the whole tree.

You should not trim an oak tree in the summer. Oak trees are especially susceptible to disease, and open tree wounds are an invitation for beetles that carry tree-killing fungus. If there’s no risk that the oak tree will do damage to your property or hurt someone, it’s best to save the trimming for fall or winter. If you can, seal the wound with latex to prevent fungus from getting inside.

Hiring an arborist or tree surgeon is usually more expensive than a standard tree company, but it is often worth the investment. Arborists have education and certifications that standard companies typically lack, leading to a more professional, expert-level service. Their expertise is particularly valuable for diseased or infested trees, as they can ensure safer removal and help prevent the issue from spreading. Additionally, arborists may be necessary for work near power lines, as uncertified companies are often not permitted to service these trees. If your goal is to preserve the health of your trees, an arborist is the best choice. Their services, such as stump grinding, are also performed with greater expertise to ensure a safe depth that won't cause your lawn to collapse over time.

Generally, you’ll want to prune back the trunk by 1 to 2 feet each year to promote bushy growth. Doing so concentrates vegetative buds closer to the bottom of the tree, where you can easily harvest fruit. For side shoots that are a year old, leave at least six leaves.

Never remove more than 30% of a tree’s foliage during pruning—even if your tree is really overgrown. Removing this much foliage at a time could kill your tree.

Costs depend on tree height, trunk diameter, removal complexity, and required equipment.
