"BEWARE: Poor customer relations: Prepaid for oil for the entire winter, set up auto delivery, was told there would be no invoices sent since it was prepaid. Called in February to check on balance only to find they made no deliveries all winter and didn't think to make a call that something was wrong. Gave them another chance requesting delivery before tenant arrived, only to find out a week later, no delivery was made, no call made there was a delivery problem with their truck. Will NEVER use again if it can be helped."

Heating Oil questions, answered by experts

Most maintenance checks take 2-5 hours, though extensive repairs may take longer.

Yes, geothermal heat pumps are worth the money. You can save about 70% on heating costs in the winter and around 50% on cooling costs in the summer with a geothermal heat pump compared to a traditional HVAC system. Over time, your savings on monthly utilities will pay for the cost of the geothermal heat pump installation. If you have an incredibly small yard, however, you may not have enough space for this type of system.

HVAC systems usually last between 10 and 30 years, with most having a lifespan of around 20 years. Factors that impact a unit’s life expectancy include which brand you choose, how often you use it, and how well you maintain it. To make sure yours lasts as long as possible, make sure to keep it clean and schedule an annual service with an HVAC technician.

Leaks, poor airflow, reduced efficiency, and loop blockages are common problems requiring service.

You need to service an HVAC system about twice per year, with a service including an inspection and basic maintenance. It’s best to schedule maintenance in the spring (after the furnace has been running and before the AC kicks on) and in the fall (after the AC worked hard all summer and before winter’s first chill arrives).

Regular HVAC services will keep the system working as efficiently as possible, saving you money on utilities and larger repairs. HVAC maintenance costs around $250 per visit, while bigger repairs from forgotten upkeep could cost thousands.
