We install metal post foundations called Screw Piles in all of the Aroostook County, Maine area. (From the towns of Fort Kent, Madawaska, Caribou, Houlton, Fort Fairfield, Oakfield and surrounding areas) These are used instead of Sono Tubes, or other concrete systems, and are drilled down below frost level to prevent, shifting, lifting, or sinking. We can install them for new construction and also for existing structures. They can be used as foundations for decks, porches, patios, carports, home additions, sunrooms, cottages, sheds, mobile homes, gazebos, fences, gates, hillside stairways, docks, bridges, signs, lampposts, solar panels, mailboxes, clotheslines, etc. We can also do light groundwork the project site.

"Job was started in the fall of 2017. It became to cold to work with siding, I was told that he would finish the job first thing in the spring of 2018. Spring came and went, summer came and went, here we are in the fall again. Finally showed up to finish the job on the third promised day. The quality of work done is appalling. crooked, cracked and broken siding, even a nail driven through the face of the siding. A ten year old could have done better. I wouldn't hire this idiot to dig a ditch"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

You should seal your deck every one to two years, but you’ll also need to clean and repair your wood deck throughout the seasons. You may want to hire a local house cleaning service to sweep and clean the deck thoroughly. These cleaning services cost around $50 per hour.

Inspect your deck at least once a year, and if you notice any damage or rot, expect to spend about $10 to $50 for simple DIY fixes or about $2,000 for professional repairs on more extensive damage.

Constant exposure to inclement weather conditions can damage your deck, causing it to fade, warp, or crack over time. Regular maintenance keeps it looking and performing its best. That means giving it a good cleaning and applying a quality sealant or wood treatment to help defend against moisture, sun damage, and everyday wear.

The average cost to stain a deck is $850, and most homeowners pay between $550 and $1,220, depending on the size of the deck. You can contact a professional to get a free quote before you decide if it’s worth the cost. Staining a deck yourself will cost less than $100, on average, but the process can take several hours.

Just like how acrylic paint is one of the best options for full sun exposure, it is also the winner when it comes to the best paint types for homes that experience extreme heat. Again, you'll want to choose neutral, lighter-colored paints for the best results. These paint colors stand the best chance against scorching summer heat.

You’ll want to avoid excessively hot or humid conditions, so it’s best to apply your stain in late spring to early fall. It's also important to watch the weather forecast and aim for days when there isn’t rain expected for at least three days. For new decks, allow the wood to season beforehand for at least four to eight weeks.
