"Although one day isn't enough for an 80-year-old house, it made a significant dent in the scale of the project.
Various previous owners' having made all manner of connections (of varying degrees of competency) meant that the house needed some help.   In a day they managed to
  1. 1. clean up and re-run wiring in about 1/2 of the basement (which feeds the rest)
  2. 2. add two new circuits for the basement + switches for lights
  3. 3. install whole-house surge suppressor + 2 space-saver breakers
  4. 4. clean-up and re-wire breaker box.
` We provided the hardware, they provided the labor.

"I originally hired Bellevue Builders to do some random handyman work. A bit of demo, some cleanup, fix a few doors. I was really impressed with their attention to detail and I ended up hiring them to put up a new shingle roof. They did such a great job. I felt really taken care of the whole time. Very professional and experienced. The price was also lower than all the other estimates I had received. Can’t go wrong with this company."

Chandelier Installation questions, answered by experts

A ceiling light will usually have two or three wires: black, white, and sometimes green. Black wires are positive, or hot, while white wires are negative, or neutral. The green wire is the grounding wire.

When you’re wiring the light, connect black to black, white to white, and green to the grounding screw.

When determining how far apart your can lights should be, the rule of thumb is to divide the height of the ceiling by two. The resulting number is how far apart your lights should be. For example, if your ceiling is 10 feet high, your lights should have five feet between them.

Motion-sensor lights use one watt while on standby and five watts while turned on. They’re usually on for one hour over a 24-hour period, bringing the total wattage to about 28 watts per day. LED lights use around 6.5 to 8 watts while on. If you leave an LED light on all night, with night ranging from 10 to 14 hours, you’re looking at using 65 to 112 watts a night. You can minimally cut your wattage in half by switching to a motion-sensor light.

A wall-mounting light fitting is called a sconce. Traditionally, sconces were placed along walls in a home to hold candles or torches for lighting. The electrical counterparts with lightbulbs serve an identical purpose, often lighting up hallways. Sconces come in a wide range of shapes and sizes. Changing a light fixture mounted on a wall requires the same basic steps as replacing a ceiling light.

If you’re planning to use an LED in an enclosed fixture like a lantern, check that the bulb is rated for enclosed spaces. LEDs are sensitive to heat, and overheating can lower their lifespan. While you can still use some LEDs safely in enclosed areas, it must be the right LED.
