"I hired Lenzen Pro Painting to paint the exterior of my home along with some stucco repair. They did a fantastic job. I am very happy with the results. Everyone at Lenzen is a pro at their jobs. I received a detailed itemized estimate which none of the other companies I got estimates from did. The person who prepped my house was thorough to prevent over-spray and catch any drips. The stucco repairs came out much better than I thought they could and after painting it's very hard to tell where any repairs had been done. Oscar, the person who prepped my house and did the repairs, also painted my house. It was done very professionally. Small imperfections and problems areas around the exterior have completely vanished. My home looks great. I will use this company again for my future painting projects. I recommend this company for its professionalism, great communication throughout the project and, quality results."

"Have worked with many contractors in the past and it was a pleasure to find someone like Nate. I found Nate to be very honest, someone I could work with, very reliable, pleasant to interact with, and made sure all the work was completed well. I also found that his pricing was very competitive. In addition, he was a very pleasant to interact with. If you are looking for any painting inside or out, you should definitely consider getting a bid from Nate. Finding a reliable contractor is a rarity now a days, with Nate, you will be very happy with his service for the quality of work and the price. I plan to hire him for other work in the future."

"The work was done well. I had my whole house including ceilings done. No complaints as far as the painting. It looks very nice and professional. Could have been neater but that is my only concern. Overall satisfied."

"Joe did an outstanding job not only scraping the old cedar shingles but also applying the paint. He impressed a former neighbor of mine when he saw Joe vacuuming up the paint chips that had fallen to the ground. All in all, Joe did a super job and I told him so many times as the work on the house progressed."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

It is definitely worth sanding a deck to ensure the wood absorbs new stain. Sanding a deck removes the outer layers of aging wood, allowing the stain to penetrate. It also gives a fresh look to the entire surface as part of the deck refinishing process. Without sanding, your stain or sealant is less likely to absorb into the wood. While sanding a deck is a time-intensive project, the rewards are noticeable and long-lasting.

Routine cleaning, sealing/staining, and inspection prolong deck life and appearance.

Yes, staining or sealing a cedar deck or fence is highly recommended to extend its lifespan, typically by five to 10 years. While cedar is naturally resistant to mold and mildew, it can still fall victim to moisture, sun exposure, and rot over time. Applying a treatment creates a protective shield that helps prevent splintering, fading, and decay, preserving the wood's strength and appearance. A combination stain and sealer often provides the best protection, as it soaks into the wood grain rather than just sitting on top. This offers superior defense against UV damage and rot and lasts longer than a sealer alone. To maintain the wood's natural look, consider using a near-translucent stain. You should plan to reapply the stain or sealer every two to three years.

Generally, these steps are included in exterior house painting:

  • Prepping and protecting the areas not being painted

  • Scraping away loose paint

  • Cleaning off dirt, grease, and debris

  • Caulking gaps and openings

  • Priming with a quality paint primer

  • Painting the prepared areas, including trim and accents with chosen paint finish

  • Adding a second coat

  • Cleaning up the site and disposing of tape, plastic, and drop cloths

Liquid rubber is great for waterproofing, but it can damage your deck if it’s not applied correctly. First, it can trap moisture in the wood if the deck isn’t completely dry before application.  Second, applying it too thickly can create a heavy, rubbery surface layer that peels and cracks under fluctuating temperatures. For the best results, ensure the wood is completely dry before application, and apply the liquid rubber in thin, even coats. A quick inspection every now and then will help you catch any issues early, keeping your deck protected and looking its best.
