"Tux restained our property in Bridgton in the summer of 2025. He did an amazing job preparing the house for the stain, having to sand the entire house. He also changed the color of the trim, which also required multiple coats. We couldn't have been happier with his work and the outcome!"

"Bruce Stuart's team did a terrific job for us painting the exterior of our house. It is multiple stories and wood shingles, which are not easy to paint. They had a great crew -- very friendly and polite -- and got the work done in a week. Overall, a terrific value. Stuart's had also painted our interior several years ago and we had an equally positive experience. I have to reservations in recommending them."

"For both jobs, we received good advice on paint choices and then accurate estimates. The work was completed with care and attention to detail. The highest recommendation I can provide is that the team treated our home as if it were their own."

I have worked in the trades for almost 40 years and am currently renovating my 3rd 100 year old home in the greater Portland area.\nAfter that many homes and countless other projects over the years, i have become proficient and confident in almost every aspect of home building, renovating, and remodeling.\nBig or small, my attention to detail and ability to communicate clearly with my clients has allowed me to keep a steady workload based almost entirely on repeat calls.\nThat said, i am always excited to meet new challenges, learn new skills, and add more happy customers to my base.

"It was amazing. Andy was super friendly, prompt and efficient. The materials he uses are eco-friendly which I really liked. I never would have imagined how nice the wood under the paint was if it weren't for him so I was very happy with the work."

"We hired Ryan and Steve to paint three rooms, plus a stairway and hallway. They patched and sanded down a lot of rough spots, and fixed a cosmetic beam that was pulling away. They started the Monday after we hired them, on a Saturday. They finished in a week, and we are happy with their work. We would definitely hire them again."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

The best way to protect a deck is to prevent damage from UV light, water, mold, mildew, insects, and abrasive cleaning methods. Sweep regularly to prevent debris that hides bugs and traps moisture that can result in mold or mildew growth. Use a deck cleaner once a year to remove algae, mold, and mildew. Avoid using pressure washers on high, as they can damage the wood. Applying a deck sealant can protect the wood from UV and water damage, and adding shade can also reduce sunlight damage.

DIY is possible but presents risks of uneven surfaces or improper adhesion; professionals offer expertise to ensure a lasting finish.

It’s often best to spray on deck sealer. Sprayers can apply sealant more quickly and evenly than rolling while still enabling you to reach tight spaces. When using a sprayer, always use a low-pressure setting at a close distance to ensure an even application. Avoid using sprayers on windy days.

Yes, you must thoroughly clean your deck before staining. If you don't, dirt, debris, grease, and mildew can get trapped between the wood and the new stain. This not only looks unsightly but also prevents the stain from penetrating the wood properly, reducing its ability to protect the deck from weather and UV rays. As a result, the stain won't last as long or look as good. Any existing mold or mildew left untreated can continue to grow beneath the new stain, potentially leading to wood rot and structural damage. Always wait at least 48 hours after cleaning for the wood to dry completely before applying stain.

You may be wondering: can you paint cement? Fortunately, the answer is yes.

To change the color of your cinder blocks, you have two options. You can either paint them or stain them. Either way, you'll be able to choose from a wide range of color options. Some popular colors for cinder block painting include off-white shades and gray tones, which add a modern spin to the traditional gray blocks.
