And the whole scope of the project was never completed……..His cost of materials estimates were doubled and we were deceived throughout . Money added to all materials and labor costs way above the norm . Owner proved to be arrogant and untrustworthy . Unfortunately we trusted him and didn’t check into his dealings until it was too late . He denies any responsibility and has no transparency……..a very poor choice on our part . Don’t make the same mistake we did …….verify all charges and dealings with this man ."

It can be bad to leave a dead stump in the ground. A stump becomes a hefty piece of dead wood in time and eventually (especially with the help of rain) starts to rot. It’s best to remove a tree stump completely before it starts to decay, especially before it starts to fall apart. If the tree was removed because of disease, it’s even more important to fully remove the stump if possible.

A trencher can grind stumps, but it will take a lot longer and be less effective than dedicated stump grinding tools. Rather than using a trencher to grind stumps, since trenchers work best at digging in soil, use a stump grinder. This aptly named tool has blades that spin to break down a tree stump quickly and leave the roots behind to naturally decay. You can also use shears, a hatchet, a reciprocating saw, or other root removal techniques to finish the job.

If you have a strong back and a lot of patience, you can dig out a tree stump. You'll need to use a pointed shovel to dig out the soil around the stump, cutting away roots with a pair of clippers as you go. You’ve removed enough soil when you can access the taproot at the bottom of the root ball. After you cut that major artery with a saw or loppers, you should be able to roll the stump over and haul it away.

While plants and trees can grow in tree stumps in nature, it is not recommended in your yard. This is due to soil composition, the possibility of pests and disease, a lack of space for rooting, and moisture availability for the new tree. Instead, hire a stump removal or grinding service to remove it and start fresh in the space.
