"Painters arrived exactly on time and accomplished all tasks the same day. The manually stripped the deck and applied two coats of stain. They carefully cleaned and then painted the foundation concrete as it had got dirty over the years. They also scraped, caulked and painted a large bump-out window off our living room.

"Antonio Ayala arrived on time to paint my doors. He and his helper were polite and very professional in their work. They scraped the old paint off, applied primer and the first coat of paint on Saturday. Due to rain, they couldn’t come back to apply the second coat until Wednesday. They arrived on time and completed the job in good time. The area around the doors was protected by a tarp. They, also, cleaned the area so no dust could get on the painted doors. I am very pleased with the excellent work that was done. I would definitely hire them again."

"After previously doing a wonderful job painting the EXTERIOR of our house, Frank was hired to paint the entire interior as we readied the house for sale. The prep work included removing a huge mirror from one wall and various drywall repairs. Frank did a wonderful job and the results were excellent. Would recommend."

"I've had several companies come and give me quotes for the replacement of my roof. So when Chris (sales person) came (last quote) and went over everything from how to what and even had samples of all the materials, I was thinking, oh man this is going cost a lot, but it didn't. It was a lot less than what I was thinking. The project manager, Eric was great! Although, some nails and a little debris was left, the workers did a great job. I was not able to see the roof until the next morning and when I did, it was beautiful. Thank you Chris and Xpress Exterior Design!"

"it went very well. Luis is a real pro—and it was easy to have him and Diego in the house. they went about their business in a very organized, but low-key way. the prep work was very well done, so i had confidence that we would end up with a neat paint job. there are 9 doors and much woodwork around the carpeted stairs, so i was a little worried about paint on the carpet. no problems at all, and they cleaned up well each day. and, it took less time than we had planned for. we couldn’t be happier with the paint job."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

The best time to paint your deck is when temperatures are neither too cold (below 60 degrees) nor too hot (above 85 degrees). Always paint your deck when there’s no risk of rain. For fast-drying paint like acrylic or latex, ensure your deck can dry for at least four hours. Oil-based paints take longer to dry and may require 48 hours to completely cure.

You can paint over old paint on a concrete porch. For the best results, you should first clean the surface and remove as much paint as you can. A power washer is helpful here, but you’ll also want to scrape as much of the old paint away as possible. Then you should prime the porch before repainting it.

When applying multiple coats, wait four to six hours for each coat to dry. Not waiting long enough can result in streaks, peeling, and uneven color. Plus, it will be more difficult to discern where the second coat has already been applied.

Applying too much sealer to a deck might seem like extra protection, but it can cause more harm than good. Wood is a porous material with a limited capacity to absorb liquids. When you go overboard with sealer, the excess can't soak in and instead forms a film on the surface. This leftover layer is prone to peeling, cracking, and trapping moisture, ultimately defeating the purpose of sealing in the first place.

Eggshell and satin finishes are best for porches because they sit in the sweet spot between scuffable matte and distracting high gloss. Your porch sees a fair amount of wear and tear, so you don’t want paint that’ll show every mark like matte, but you don’t want to be blinded by glossy paint in the sun either. Eggshell and satin have durability and a look that sits nicely in the middle.
