"Upon  entering my condo the cleaner immediately issued a sales pitch saying the rate quoted on Angie's List  ($78.00) would not be more than a surface cleaning and would not really clean my "heavily  trafficked carpet" and that his cleaning would last five years!    I live alone and don't entertain often.  There were some l soiled areas which needed attention but most of the carpet was in  good shape though the cleaner  immediately said the carpet showed signs of "wear and tear." (The carpet had been cleaned roughly a year ago )     Three men came to do what has in the past been a one person job.     In retrospect I should have told them to leave without cleaning when the overpriced estimate was made.  There is no indication in the receipt I have which guarantees this cleaning job' for "five years.!"

"I was expecting a deeper cleaning to my carpets for the price paid. Yes, my high traffic areas are a little worn but there are areas of the stairs and hallways that could have been better cleaned. There also are areas where it was spot treated that are very noticeable. One area that was cleaned well was the entrance from the garage. Good job on that part of carpet!"

"We had some of our carpets stretched and got some very good advise from them when we go to replace the carpets. We also discussed work in another room of our house. The workers were efficient and polite."

Carpet Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Depending on the thickness of the carpet, it can take anywhere from 4 to 12 hours for carpet to dry with a fan. The humidity and temperature of the room also play a role in drying time, as added moisture in the air can result in longer drying time.

One way to sanitize and deodorize a carpet is to use a cleaning solution made from one part vinegar and two parts warm water. After you vacuum, spray the solution on parts of the carpet that smell, being careful not to oversaturate it. Let the solution sit for 15 to 20 minutes before you perform your normal carpet sanitation routine.

Yes, you should always vacuum before cleaning your carpets to remove any dust or debris. If you hire a professional carpet cleaner, they’ll typically do this for you.

Some carpet cleaning companies tack on additional fees for moving furniture, so the best course of action is to confirm what the cleaning fee covers when you set up the appointment. While you can find companies that include furniture moving, many will not due to insurance liability, the risk of damage, or time constraints.

No, there’s no limit on how much you can tip your carpet cleaning pro. If you couldn’t prepare for your carpet cleaner beforehand, you might feel inclined to give them a large tip for their troubles. However, there's no pressure to tip that much, and most homeowners typically tip 10% to 20% of the total bill.
