"Craig was great. He didn't try to up sell me on lights. In fact, he listened to what I wanted and then gave his assessment and tweaked my idea to something more grand. The end result was amazing and regal."

"Came out with stone mason the same day. Spent an hour and was very thorough on options, potential problems and decisions to be made. Promised line item estimates with different options. in 2013 put in a flagstone walk with brick edging, a fire pit and patio for about $15,000. Done on time and in budget."

"The estimate and scheduling was a breeze with Todd. The crew arrived on time to install 8 recessed lights, in 2 rooms, as well as wire 3 ceiling fans in the bedrooms that did not have overhead lighting. They completed the job quickly and efficiently. There was no mess left (they put down plastic and vacuumed up anything that made it onto the floor) and they covered all holes they had to make. I will definitely use them for future electrical needs."

"We had a wonderful experience. Justin, the project manager, was on top of everything every step of the way. If we had a question or concern, he responded within the hour. The crew, headed by Walter, including Rosa, Marvin (tile), and Jose (painting) were very precise in their work. Each afternoon, before leaving, they cleaned up. When they finished, it was so nice to see that they also shared our joy in having a beautiful new bathroom."

Lighting questions, answered by experts

You can take a few steps to prolong the life of your holiday lights. Make sure to replace burnt-out bulbs as quickly as possible to avoid overloading the rest of the circuit and knocking out more lights. Before packing them up each year, plug each strand into the wall to confirm everything is still working. Wrap the lights carefully back into their original packaging or something similar—winding a strand tightly together or leaving it to hang loose in a storage bin can lead to frayed or damaged wiring.

Yes! As a matter of fact, there are many sensors that add motion to existing outdoor lights. These motion sensors attach to pre-existing flood lights and other outdoor lights without any fussy and potentially dangerous electrical work. Additionally, some flood lights and related fixtures ship with motion sensors built-in.

To maintain your outdoor lighting and prevent major issues, you should regularly clean the fixtures, inspect the wiring and connections, and replace worn or burnt-out bulbs promptly. These simple steps ensure consistent operation and extend the life of your lighting system.

Pool lights are designed to be safe by protecting swimmers from electrocution. These lights are made with waterproof fixtures and seals to prevent contact with the water.

Electrocution from pool lights is still possible, but rare. Faulty wiring or broken lighting equipment can make lights unsafe, so it’s important to replace lights as needed and have an electrician inspect and upgrade the wiring.

No, you should not leave LED Christmas lights up all year. While the LED lights themselves are very durable, their wiring and casings can be as vulnerable as any Christmas lights. They’re subject to drying out, experiencing cold or sun damage that causes them to crack, and even damage caused by gnawing pests. (The same is true of incandescents.) If you want your lights to last the years that they’re rated for, bring them inside after Christmas is over.
