"Peak installed a new front door for us and did an excellent job. They were responsive throughout the whole process. The door is very high quality and will last many years. The install was done with care. They went above and beyond to ensure everything was sealed up properly and put our smart lock and screen door back on as well. Peak is a company that cares about their work and the customer."

"I had rotten wood above a transom window on my front door that I needed to be fixed quickly. Generations was extremely responsive and got the job done much sooner than I anticipated. They even came out to provide an estimate late in the evening to fit my schedule. The job was completed as requested for a reasonable price. I only regret that I don't live in the area anymore; I would use them in the future if I did."

Doors questions, answered by experts

While spring and summer’s temperate weather can make the project more pleasant and give you more daytime hours to start and complete it, there’s otherwise no advantage to framing a door in spring or summer versus fall and winter.

Yes, you can add a screen door to most door frames. The screen should be able to fit standard-size door frames, so unless you have an unusually sized door, you shouldn’t have an issue. Just make sure to properly measure the frame. When in doubt, it’s best to let a pro take care of this task for you so it’s installed correctly.

Most bedroom doors are 30, 32, or 36 inches wide and about 80 inches tall, depending on the size of the room, the height of the ceiling, and any special accommodations that may be necessary for the bedroom’s occupant. The size of your bedroom door may be larger than average if it leads into a very large bedroom or a home with unique wall or ceiling features.

You can use wood, metal, or plastic as a door shim, but keep in mind that wood will rot easier than the other two materials. Your local hardware store should have at least one type in stock. Alternatively, you can trim a piece of cardboard to fit underneath your door hinge and work as a temporary, makeshift door shim.

Yes, door hinges can sag over time. This usually happens due to things like repeated use, loose screws, worn hinge pins, or the door's weight pulling on the frame. When hinges sag, you'll often notice the door sticking, dragging, or not latching properly. Tightening the screws or replacing worn parts can usually help to realign the door.
