"We couldn’t have been happier with the oversized deck which was designed and built by Freedom Fence and Home. The crew was professional, courteous and truly a pleasure to work with. From the initial meeting regarding the design, to the final day of the build, we had the best experience and we are so glad that we made the call to Freedom. Thank you to the entire team for creating our outdoor oasis. We love it!"

"Kyle and his team did a great job with the work. The estimate was completed promptly and the work was started the next week. The retaining wall and patio look excellent. Kyle and the team kept me up to date with each part of the project."

"Everything was amazing start to finish. Derek was great at understanding my vision and really brought it to life. I’ve had so many neighbors stop and compliment me on our new deck and patio. 10/10 would recommend"

"My wife and I are very pleased with the work performed. We had a 150 square foot patio replaced. Existing patio had many cracks, very uneven, possible trip hazard. Very fine workmanship: showed AB cared about their work."

"Najee and his team worked masterfully to repair our patio. They worked late on day 2 to finish our job in 2 days instead of the 3 days they had planned. They restored our 100 year old patio to its original beauty. Each worker was professional, paying great attention to detail. Najee stayed in contact to let me know when they would arrive. I highly recommend these young craftsmen."

"I initially had decided to hire a contractor to install a stamped concrete patio until I spoke to Brad. The paver patio design was just what I envisioned. I was able to actually look at the pavers and for color patterns and design options. I am looking forward to spending more time enjoying the patio once the weather cools off. The crew worked hard in the heat to finish the job. I have also decided to have Ortman's Inc. return in the fall or next spring to extend the patio after I redesign the garden along the walkway. My parents and a co-worker are also interested in having Ortmans Inc design and build their patio."

Patios questions, answered by experts

A Florida room is a home addition that has finished walls with windows lining the perimeter, while a screened-in porch, also known as an Arizona room, lacks windows and instead has screens to maintain constant ventilation. Florida rooms provide longer enjoyment throughout the year because they’re closed off and will naturally get heated from the sun, while a screened-in porch will just be the same temperature as the ambient air.

The average cost to screen-in your patio ranges from $2,000 to $4,000. How much you spend depends on the size of your patio, the materials used, and construction complexity. Some patio screen room kits are easy to DIY, but you may need to hire a local screened-in porch builder and obtain permits for more complex designs.

Your maintenance needs revolve around the type of foundation you choose, as well as how you furnish or decorate it. Patios require little else other than the occasional hose-down, but decks and other wooden structures will require annual power washing and sealing. You may also need to restain the wood every two to three years.

Adding a solid roof rather than building a pergola or leaving the space open will make maintenance much easier. Without a roof, you will need to spend more time sweeping, washing, and covering your furniture to protect it from UV bleaching.

Yes, a screened-in porch will increase your property taxes because it has a foundation and is considered a permanent improvement to your land. The exact amount your taxes will go up depends on the value of your existing home, the value added by the screened-in porch, the size of the structure, your location, and more.

Building a sunroom is usually less expensive than the cost of building a home addition, but it depends on the type of sunroom. A four-season sunroom will cost more than a home addition because it’s basically a home addition with larger, more expensive windows. All other types of sunrooms will be more affordable than a home addition of an equivalent size because they don’t have insulation, heating, cooling, electrical connections, or plumbing.
