"The Outdoor Advantage did a great job clearing these two large, overgrown areas. They reseeded the areas with grass seed and the new grass is starting to show, which is a good sign. Dave and Shizuka were very pleasant and nice to work with and responsive to my concern about picking a start date when I would be in town. They brought a backhoe to thoroughly clear the areas so that the plants don't grow back, which I appreciate. The two areas look completely transformed now and I no longer worry about the invasive brush taking over the lawn. It was an expensive project, but worth it, I feel, as long as these plants don't come back. I have another monster forsythia patch in the front yard and will call the Outdoor Advantage to deal with that in the future."

"G&G Landscaping did a great job cleaning up our yard for spring! They came out for a free estimate and made recommendations so the final result would be exactly what we wanted. They did it all--weeding, trimming bushes, removing ivy, and mulching. Best part was how responsive they were. Highly recommend!"

"Mr. Altaro and son arrived when promised and quickly got to work grinding down the stump. The wood chips were collected and bagged with Mr Altaro s recommendation to use as mulch. Everything was handled very efficiently and professionally.. Thank you, Altaro Construction and thank you Home Advisor for the recommendation."

"I was VERY happy with their service! I had a relatively small job, and right up front they told me about their minimum. Once I said that I was comfortable with that, we looked at the trees I planned to remove, and hunted around for other trim/removal projects that made sense for that amount. I contracted on a Saturday and they did the job two days later. They were right on time and the crew of 4 was very efficient and just did the job. They chipped all the debris and cleaned up all the leaves. They even cleaned leaves where they were NOT working! They even took away leaves and branches I had previously collected and set aside for the weekly county pickup! They were polite and clearly concerned about customer satisfaction throughout. I would definitely hire them again."

"

I am a completely satisfied customer and cannot even begin to describe how much better this company is than every other landscaping company that has done work for me or provided me with estimates.

They installed a very large mulch pit filled with wood chips around our gigantic backyard playset with a border of 6x6s, and also did some minor excavation work and laid out Geotex cloth to prevent weed growth.  Although our playset is gigantic, our yard is not, so this project presented a number of logistical challenges.  Nevertheless, everything is absolutely perfect. Our playset is now useful after it rains instead of being a complete mess of mud, and I think at least one or two children avoided serious injury because of the cushioning from the wood chips.

I am a perfectionist and not only did Kyle and his crew tolerate that, I got the impression that they are perfectionists as well.  There were a number of issues that were difficult to make decisions about until the day of work, but they patiently went through the options with me and helped me make an informed decision.  The entire crew was courteous, professional, and hard working.  Although I was completely satisfied after the work was complete, a couple of touch-ups were necessary within a couple of months. Kyle did not hesitate to return and fix those issues to make sure I was completely satisfied.

To top it off, I got estimates from some of Angie's List's top-ranked landscaping companies in Baltimore, and Azaleas to Zinnias was the most reasonable.  I would not hesitate to use them again and would recommend them to anyone who asks.

Brush Chipping questions, answered by experts

It’s possible to over-mulch leaves. If the leaf mulch is thick enough that it’s blocking and smothering the grass, that’s a problem. Ideally, you should still be able to see the grass when you’re done mulching to ensure its ability to continue growing. The solution is to make another pass at the top layer of leaf mulch to collect some of the top layer.

The most effective way to remove leaves is to blow them into piles and then bag them. This is faster and more efficient than raking, although it might not be a good idea to use a blower around delicate plants or mulched flower beds. You could leaf blow the bulk of your yard and then rake around garden beds for a quick and easy fall cleanup.

Removing leaves from your lawn and yard has a few benefits. Leaves that cover your lawn over the winter can block sunlight from reaching your lawn, smothering and even killing the grass. Leftover leaves in your yard can create bare patches that you’ll need to reseed in the spring to return the grass to its former glory. Hiring a leaf removal company can save you time and labor, especially if your lawn is large or you have a high density of trees dropping leaves in your yard.

Many tools are effective in helping you remove hedges. While heavy machinery is likely the best option for making quick work of hedge removal, your trusty hand spade shovel is probably the next best. Use a spade shovel to dig around the hedge and break roots as you go with the tool. Your spade is also useful for getting deep underneath the root ball, so you can insert a pry bar to help lift the plant.

Trimming a rose bush is similar to cutting back your shrubs or other bushes.

First, you’ll start by removing old, damaged, or diseased branches from the base. Next, thin out the plant's interior by removing thin, weak branches. Finally, you’ll want to cut off buds where the leaves meet the stem.

Trim away using a 45-degree angle, as this will help with water runoff and promote new growth outward.
