"If I had to pick the ONE professional that has helped me the absolute most in the past two years- it would be Helène with Estate Organizing Specialists. It was no small task to tackle 40 years of cumulative generational "stuff" from multiple homes as it had found its way into storage units, and my Garage of Doom. Helène is so professional, so efficient, and so sensitive to the various tragic circumstances that make us all "material horders" to varying degrees. She comes in with no judgment and works miracles! I have hired her for my parents in preparation for their International move, as well as for myself before and after my own interstate move. Truly, I don't think I could have made it through with my sanity intact without her help!"

"They were great. I had shoulder surgery and haven’t been able to deep clean my house for months. They now come every other week and my house looks and smells amazing."

"I started out feeling so incredibly positive about this company and arranged for them to clean our house on a monthly basis. things went fine for the first few months and the owner of the company was always accessible via email (this worked well for me). However, the crew missed a scheduled cleaning earlier in March. I called and emailed the owner, who eventually contacted me to say that he had been sick, was hospitalized for a short time and had forgotten to tell the crew to come to my home. I expressed my sympathy about his illness, excused the missed appointment (March 22), and we exchanged emails and agreed upon a day the following week that the team would arrive to clean (March 28). I cam home from work and they had not been there. Nor did I receive a phone call or email. I left three voice mail messages and three emails and still have not received a response. In my messages, I acknowledged that he might again be sick and that I hoped that was not the case. However, I needed to have a service that was more reliable and had a back-up communication plan. I asked that my house key be returned by having someone just put it through the front door mail slot. However, I have not received my key. I am concerned for the health of the company's owner, but also concerned that these strangers still have a key to my house! Fortunately, I have an alarm system and the cleaners do not have the access code, but this is a very curious, disturbing and unfortunate situation. It's obvious that the company owner does not have anyone checking phone messages or emails in his absence. Nor do the members of the cleaning crew have any empowerment or ability to keep appointments or contact customers on their own. What started out so well has gone pretty badly!

Garage Cleaning Services questions, answered by experts

Garages are often equipped with lighting, electrical boxes, and sometimes even heating and cooling, while carports rarely have utilities. A garage is an enclosed structure that can lock and usually has an automatic door. A carport is often wood or plastic and is designed only to protect a car from elements like rain, snow, and hail. Carports are commonly seen on property where an attached garage is unfeasible but can be a cost-effective solution for car protection for anyone without a completed garage.

We recommend hiring a garage door professional to install a garage door opener for you. Garage door openers aren’t terribly complex, but setting them up properly, setting the lift and drop speed, and installing sensors that work correctly can take a few hours for a DIYer. The cost to install a garage door opener is around $400, and it will save you a lot of time and frustration. Garage professionals have the skills and equipment necessary to work with potentially dangerous garage door components, like springs.

It’s important to weigh the advantages and disadvantages of epoxy garage floor coatings. Consider the following pros and cons of this garage addition, including the following:

Pros:

  • Increased visibility

  • Durability

  • Long lifespan

  • Low maintenance

  • Versatile appearance

  • More sustainable

Cons:

  • Strong odor when applying

  • Difficult to remove

  • Can be slippery

  • Possible bubbles and blisters

  • Temperature sensitive while curing

If you also have a standard door leading to your garage, install a robust deadbolt lock and reinforce the frame with security plates. Then, secure any windows with shatterproof glass or film to deter break-ins. Consider a smart garage door opener for your car entrance, enabling remote monitoring and control through your smartphone. Motion-activated lighting around the garage to deter intruders is a great way to amplify these security efforts. Lastly, educate your family on security practices, such as keeping the garage entrances closed and locked.

While the benefits of garage door screens usually outweigh the downsides, there are some cons to installing one. First off, they can be quite expensive, especially if you’re having a professional install a retracting screen or a custom size screen. Second, they let fresh air and natural light in, but they also don’t provide the same privacy from people in the neighborhood that a solid door does. As you might guess, screens also won’t insulate your garage, so they’re often not usable in colder weather.
