"I have now had 4 pickups from this company. Each time it has been with different items: I have had my kitchen remodeled,  a deck torn down and rebuilt, a new roof put on, old fencing disc arded, and a yard cleanup. The only difference in pricing was for the roofing and even though ti was more money it was STILL CHEAPER than a dumpster!!! I don't know how these guys do it, but they pickup on time, without issue andfor the cost quoted. I have turned each of my contractors onto them - now they are using them. SO MUCH cheaper and better service than any dumpster company I have used!"

"Peter did a great job installing a new water heater.  He was professional and courteous, completed the work quickly and efficiently, and left the area cleaner than when he found it.  He charged exactly what he estimated and took care of a couple additional odds and ends at no additional cost.  I would hire him again and recommend him without hesitation.

"I had a leak in my oil tank and could not find someone that could replace my tank in less than 6 weeks, Paul called me back and really tried to help me out, he could install in less than 2 weeks since mine was leaking, in the end my oil company was able to get someone in sooner so I had to go with them given the cold weather we were having and needed to have heat in my house, I just wanted to let people know that this company got back to me and tried to help when I could not get others to even call me back. Thank you!"

"Owner and his crew are impressive. The professional equipment coupled with the determination required to return old sewer lines to working order in the most adverse conditions make Sure Flow the only rooter service I will ever call. I’m also increasingly impressed with there courteous staff and response time. This is a family owned business big enough to handle the toughest jobs but small enough to care about results."

"All three jobs went great. For the water heater replacement Lewis came to my house at a convenient time for me, removed the heater changed out the rotted pipes and installed a new one with warranty. The price was great too. This job was time sensitive and he made me a priority to get it done. For the bathroom tub drain unclog he was very professional and did a great job. My garbage disposal was leaking and I came home to a pool of water in my cabinet and on the floor. Lewis came out quickly to resolve the issue for me. He replaced everything under the sink and showed me what he was doing each step of the way. I think that he is a great plumber if you want to get quality work and learn about each job too."

"This story begins long before we bought our dream condo, when some fool decided that an ejector pump system would be the best way to deal with our below-grade kitchen. Our troubles began once we moved in -- 3 years ago-- and began cooking regularly, the way one does when trying to eat well and not go out all the time. The pump backed up constantly, flooding the hallway and leading to amazing fungus sprouting from the wall. We called many different plumbers, most who refused to help, given the strangeness of our set-up (these pumps are almost never used in a kitchen, but typically for bathrooms or septic systems). We had some plumbers come out who I will politely avoid naming, who charged us for work that didn't do any good... eventually we got to the point where we could not use the kitchen sink or dishwasher without first checking the pump, as at any time it might unpredictably overflow. This went on and on, but then Provost came to our rescue! Although it took us a few tries to coordinate a time, we finally met Russ, who sweated through FIVE HOURS of intense labor, discovering and repairing the poor workmanship of at least 2 previous plumbers, successfully re-installing an alarm system, and providing us with an enyzme cleaning system to use as well. He insisted on closing the cabinet on the whole thing, which we did with trepidation, as we had gotten used to not trusting the pump. "You really shouldn't have to touch it again," he told us. "But call me if you have any problems!" It has been 3 weeks and we have yet to call, which feels about as close to a home-ownership miracle as we can get. I will sing the praises of these guys across Boston."

"Hagit and Carleton were easy to work with. They responded to our ideas and created an exciting contemporary design. They provided expertise that makes our medium sized kitchen feel spacious. They came up with efficient and aesthetically clever suggestions to make the cabinetry and countertop beautiful as well as functional. We also recommend their installer, Brian, who took great care in aligning the cabinets so that we achieved a flawless result."

Install Garbage Disposal questions, answered by experts

The most common garbage disposal size in the U.S. is 1/2 horsepower. This size is ideal for households with three or fewer people or those that don't produce much food waste. Although 1/2 horsepower can't handle the typical food waste load for a household of four (which is about 250 pounds of food waste annually) as effectively as 3/4 horsepower, it remains the most common size of garbage disposal on the market.

Soil is just one of the items you shouldn't put down a garbage disposal. Garbage disposals are only meant for soft, non-fibrous foods. Large amounts of topsoil, dirt, or rocks will damage the blades of your garbage disposal or clog the pipes. If a small amount of dirt goes down the drain as you repot a plant, you shouldn't have to worry, but never dump a whole pot of soil in the sink for fast disposal.

Never put glass in the garbage disposal. It can damage your disposal or eject shards of glass out of the disposal and cause injury. If you get broken glass in your garbage disposal, turn it off and cut the power from the breaker, use a tool like pliers or tongs to remove the glass, and use a wet-dry vacuum to remove the remaining glass pieces. If you can’t access the disposal safely, call a garbage disposal repair pro.

The two main negatives of garbage disposals are they are a safety hazard in homes with children, and they frequently encounter blockage issues. While they might be annoying to fix and monitor, garbage disposals can significantly lower your trash use and are a great way to dispose of organic waste. While there are negatives, the vast majority of homeowners acknowledge the positives are enough to install a disposal in their home.

Replacing a garbage disposal costs anywhere from $150 to $950, but the average cost is somewhere around $550. There are two types of garbage disposal units, and continuous feed disposals tend to cost more than batch feed disposals. Going for an aluminum garbage disposal is also significantly cheaper than choosing a stainless steel garbage disposal. You'll also need to factor in the horsepower of the motor, labor, and the removal and disposal of your old unit.
