"Once again, Ranieri Construction has gone above and beyond our expectations! We needed to have our inground pool patched and painted, and may I say Andrew (and Lou) did an outstanding job. My husband usually spends time (and $) at the beginning of the season making sure the water stays clean and clear. But patching up all the spots, and then painting the entire pool ensured the pool was so much easier to clean and keep clear on day 1. The improvements also made it easier to maintain the water balance and keep clean. Please consider these folks- they are prompt, detail oriented and very efficient. Feel free to get in touch with us if you want to hear more"

"It went great! Appreciated that Joe had his crew come out very quickly as work needed doing asap. Work was done in about 1/2 day which was quite impressive considering they had to install about 200 ft of shoe molding to cover up space between baseboard and floor where floor had sagged a bit. And they put insulation behind the new molding to cut down on drafts! Much appreciated."

"When our inground gunnite pool all of a sudden began to loose significant amounts of water, trying to keep it open became impossible. After contacting Home Advisor, we placed a call to Maclachlan Pool and Spa service. Jim responded to our call the same day and actually came to assess the problem the same day. Our main drain in the pool had a real big problem perhaps when the pool was last re-surfaced. We scheduled a repair with Jim. Jim explained all of the options we had. From our discussions It is clear that Jim has extensive knowledge and experience with pool systems. After Jim provided a solution our pool problem is solved and already running again. In addition to Jim's overall experience and knowledge of pool systems, Jim is a friendly and very pleasant person to deal with. We have already provided Maclachlan Pool and Spa service with a another referral. When we need pool servoce again we will definitly contact his company and continue to provide his company with additional references."

Install Above Ground Pools questions, answered by experts

Sometimes, homeowners choose to install their pool on concrete, foam tiles, or patio pavers. Leveled dirt is also fine, as long as it’s not sod or grass. Regardless, you’ll need to install sand as a buffer to prevent your liner from tearing. Some pool installers also use a protective foam pool pad.

Common problems include liner tears, pump malfunctions, and algae buildup. Regular maintenance prevents many issues.

You can find a leak in an in-ground pool by doing a visual check, the bucket test, and a dye test. Keep in mind that skimmers are usually the culprit for in-ground pool leaks. However, if you cannot detect the leak location after running the tests, it’s a good idea to call in a professional pool repair service.

Pool leaks most commonly occur at joints or where different materials meet. The most frequent leak spots include:

  • The Pool Skimmer: Where the plastic skimmer meets the pool's liner or shell.

  • The Pool Liner: Tears can develop in vinyl liners, especially those between 5 and 20 years old. Leaks also occur around the liner's edge.

  • Fittings and Accessories: Areas around return lines, the main drain, and pool lights are common culprits.

  • Pool Equipment: The pump, filter, and filter housing can also leak.

While leaks in underground pipes are less common, they can be costly to fix. It's usually best to check the more common spots before investigating the plumbing system.

No, you shouldn’t be able to taste the salt at all since saltwater pools only contain about 10% of the salt you’d find in ocean water. Saltwater pools do create some chlorine, though, so you should still try not to drink the water.
