"Anthony was friendly and extremely knowledgeable! He did a great job installing our ceiling fans. I think that overall the pricing is high, but I needed someone to be at my house at a certain day and time and electrical experts can guarantee that. They give you lots of notice that they are coming, good customer service."

Small jobs welcome

"We very much appreciated working with a consummate professional like Master Electrician Frank Widowiak and his skilled staff. The antique wiring in the old house we recently purchased was dangerous and it needed a complete overhaul and upgrade to modern standards. Frank was quick, responsive, and thorough. He was patient in explaining what needed to be done and why. His crew was knowledgeable, efficient, and friendly. In some parts of the project they went beyond what was expected. We highly recommend Frank and his staff. We would not go to anyone else should we need electrical work done again."

"He did an amazing job helping me find a replacement for the can lights that we had in the kitchen. We’ve had a problem with bees nesting inside the can lights, and he helped me find some beautiful flat LED lights with a nightlight feature that I’ve never had before!! He also installed a dimmer for the lights, and a small chandelier that we bought on Amazon! Kept everything neat and cleaned up after himself! Highly recommend him for your work"

"I went on Angie's List to find an electrician. On the list , he had the most reviews. I called him and received a tentative quote. I called 2 more electricians and called him right back. We scheduled a date. He came on time. He had to special order due to the fan's age. A few days later he came back and did the job. He had informed me that he had to pay extra to get the fan quickly. I offered to compensate; he REFUSED!. He stated a quote is a quote. I would use him again and recommend him highly to anyone seeking an electrician."

"Turcotte Electric is old school in the best way possible! I found Ray Tourcotte and the electrician who performed the work to be down-to-earth nice guys. They were responsive, there when they said the would be, respectful of my home, and provided quality workmanship for a reasonable price. Work performed: Installed 2 ceiling fans, a chandelier, and corrected incorrect wiring in one outlet."

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

There are several telltale signs to let you know that your ceiling fan needs servicing or replacement. For instance, if it’s wobbling, rotating too slowly, or if your ceiling fan is making noise such as squeaks, buzzes, and thumps, it’s time to have it looked at by a professional. Not only may it indicate a potential problem with the fan itself, but it could also signal a red flag that it’s improperly assembled or there’s an issue with the wiring.

The direction your ceiling fan spins helps create comfortable airflow in your home and can also help cut down on energy costs.

During summer, your ceiling fan should spin counterclockwise. This will push cooler air downward in a column and help lower your room’s air temperature. In the winter, set your ceiling fan to spin clockwise and at the lowest speed setting. This will pull cool air upwards, displacing the warm air that pools towards the top of your ceiling and bringing it down towards the floor.

There are many types of ceiling fans, from self-automated smart ceiling fans to outdoor ceiling fans that provide additional comfort to your patio. What you choose all comes down to function and personal taste.

Consider your ceiling height when selecting a ceiling fan. Rooms with ceilings under eight feet high will do well with low-profile ceiling fans, also known as flush-mount or hugger ceiling fans. If your home has cathedral ceilings or ceilings between 10 and 25 feet high, you’ll need a large ceiling fan with a heavy-duty motor to get adequate air circulation.

Stainless steel or aluminum fans are long-lasting and have less air resistance. They are best for outdoor use as their durability helps them withstand unpleasant weather conditions. Their heavy weight requires a stronger motor, which leads to more noise than other blade materials.

Wooden fan blades are a classic, durable option. They are much quieter than metal fans and feature a wide range of styles and finishes to choose from. However, they can be damaged by moisture if not covered with plastic.

Plastic fan blades are lightweight, easy to clean, and versatile. There are various shapes and styles to choose from as plastic is easily molded and dyed. They will also deteriorate slower than other materials as they aren’t as susceptible to humidity and moisture.

To convert a ceiling fan to wireless, you’ll need to install a canopy module to access the lighting and fan controls. Many options are available, all of which help you control specific elements of your ceiling fan, so you have plenty of choices depending on your needs.
