"Able to come out next day and did a great job. I have a house with a very high roof making it challenging but they were able to do it at a very reasonable price"

"Very happy with Phil and Green Trees. We had two trees that fell over during a bad storm, and one more tree that was weak and in danger of falling. All three were removed in 4 - 5 hours. His crew is professional and efficient. Would definitely hire again. The only negative is the communication can be slow. It took a while for Phil to get back to me initially, and he wasn't very fast in responding to me in the time between our first conversation and when the work was done. As long as you have a flexible timeline, Green Trees are worth the wait. I would hire again, so it's an A rating from me."

"Jonathan did a terrific job cleaning windows in an apartment we had just
rented. The windows may not have been cleaned in a decade or longer and
he made them look brand new. He took out the storms and screens and cleaned
the windows in and out. Jonathan also replaced the broken roller shades for us.
He removed the shades for measurement and a few days later installed brand new ones
for us -- a service I really appreciated!
Jonathan is very professional: polite and punctual. A
delightful person too.

Leaf Removal questions, answered by experts

The best way to remove lead paint is by wet hand sanding and removing all dust and residue with a HEPA vacuum. Professionals may also strip and scrape lead-based paint with a paint scraper. In some cases, you may choose to have a pro encapsulate or enclose your lead-based paint surface by covering it with a sealant or a new material. You may also choose to replace the material altogether.

While not all homes built before 1978 contain lead paint, enough do, so you’ll still want to test to be on the safe side. The federal government banned lead-based paint for homes in 1978, but your state may have banned lead before that time. Around 24% of homes built between 1960 and 1977 contained lead-based paint, while 87% of homes built before 1940 contained lead-based paint.

If the lead paint is in a place that is not easily disturbed and is not flaking or deteriorating, you do not necessarily need to remove it. Lead is toxic when dust particles or flakes from peeling lead paint are ingested. If people are not in the area with the lead paint, it may be safe to leave it in place. You still may want to consider encapsulation with a paint formulated for covering lead-based paint, just for an added layer of protection.

You can paint over lead paint, or “encapsulate” it with a special paint that includes an ingredient called an encapsulant. The EPA approves encapsulation as a lead paint removal method as long as the paint remains undisturbed. Standard types of paint without an “encapsulant” from the big box stores or hardware stores do not meet EPA standards for remediation of lead-based paint.

If your home was built before 1978, there’s a chance that any paint on your hardwood floors could be lead paint—especially if it was already there when you moved in. Because lead is toxic, hiring a licensed pro to remove it is mandatory. The average price for professional lead paint removal ranges from $1,500 to $5,300 and depends on the scope of the project.
