"I recently had my shingle roof replaced and I?m very happy with the results. The team was professional, punctual, and completed the job efficiently. The quality of the work is excellent, and the new roof looks great. They kept the work area clean and communicated well throughout the process. I would definitely recommend them to anyone needing a roof replacement."

"Andrew Wells has been a gift from God for my dire situation. I have an extremely old house which needs extensive repairs, and through Home Advisor's recommendation I hired Andrew Wells to repair numerous holes in the soffit to prevent bats and squirrels from entering my attic. So far, he has done an incredible job! I am so impressed by his honesty and devotion and reasonable prices that I intend to hire him for future repairs/work. He truly is a blessing to the field of contracting and I am most grateful that I found him through Home Advisor. Thank you!!!"

"Job the got done for a reasonable price, but a lot of cleanup and touch-ups have been required. Also missed a bunch of areas, mostly the sides of door frames. The "crew" also consisted of just one person, for most of the time. The project, instead of lasting one week, as originally scoped, ended up lasting three. Nice people, though."

"Alex contacted me right away after I had sent an inquiry through Angie's and he showed up within a couple of hours after contacting me. He was courteous and friendly as we looked over the scope of the work. This included not only removing old wood shutters for repainting but power washing trim, cleaning wood gutters out, lining with linseed, replacing fascia boards on the gutters and repainting some of the house trim. The two workers came back and Alex went over the work. Germano and Carlos arrived at 8 everyday and stayed until 5:30. It was during that week of extreme heat in September and they never complained and worked all day. I recommended Alludi to my two neighbors and they have hired them too. I wouldn't hestitate to contact them for future projects. They get it done!"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

There’s no single paint that’s the most waterproof. Instead, there are several types of waterproof and water-resistant paints that suit different purposes. Epoxy paint, for instance, is commonly used to provide a waterproof coating to floors and decks. Masonry paint is an excellent choice for exterior walls. Meanwhile, there are waterproof acrylic paints that can be used for interior and exterior walls. It’s more about choosing the best type for what you’re painting instead of the most waterproof paint overall.

Yes, beginners can use a paint sprayer, but there is a learning curve. It's important to go slowly, read the instructions thoroughly, and spend some time learning the technique. Watching tutorial videos for your specific paint sprayer model can be very helpful. Before starting your main project, practice on a scrap surface to get used to the sprayer and avoid common issues like overspraying, which can cause drips, bubbles, and other imperfections. For safety, always wear a mask and gloves, and be careful not to touch the sprayer's tip when it's in use, particularly with high-powered airless sprayers.

Staining or sealing a cedar deck or fence is highly recommended to extend its lifespan and protect it from the elements. While cedar is naturally resistant to mold and mildew, it is not impervious to damage from moisture, sun exposure, splintering, fading, and rot over time. Applying a protective finish creates a shield that preserves the wood's strength and appearance, potentially extending its life by five to 10 years.

When choosing a finish, it's helpful to understand the difference between a sealer and a stain. A sealer sits on top of the wood, whereas a combination stain and sealer soaks into the top layer. Because it penetrates the wood, a stain generally offers better protection against UV damage and rot and lasts significantly longer. For the best results that also preserve the wood's natural color, consider using a near-translucent stain.

To maintain protection, plan on reapplying the stain or sealer every two to three years, either as a DIY project or by hiring a professional.

Always sand a deck before repainting so the wood is smooth and ready for paint. While you do not need to fully remove paint before repainting, sanding helps remove any areas with weather and sun damage. Sanding also helps remove chipped or flaking paint and opens the wood pores to improve paint adhesion.

Provided conditions are ideal, staining an entire deck should take as little as a couple of hours and up to a couple of days to apply and cure. Additional procedures, like sealing a deck or using additional treatments, may extend the project by a few additional days.
