"Eugene and Dennis helped us with a large branch that landed on our roof. Luckily there was no damage but it was big enough where we could not remove it ourselves. They arrived quickly, were professional and friendly. They had attention to safety and making sure no damage was done in the process. They also were kind enough to give us a quote to help prevent any further issues in the future. They left the wood at our request and stacked it neatly and made sure all debris was gone. I look forward to working with them again in the future and would recommend them to anyone looking for tree services in the future."

"Had Jeremy take down four trees on my property in Lanesborough Ma. He responded quickly to my inquiry. He was able to do the job the following day. Jeremy and his assistant, Josh completed the job quickly and efficiently. They cleaned up the all debris in the yard. Couldn't be happier with the job Jeremy and Josh did! Would definitely recommend these young men for any tree work! Fair pricing as well."

Small jobs welcome

"Matt and Brittney did a wonderful job fixing my front porch. It looks terrific. They kept me up to date and were responsive to what I wanted. They also worked fast and accurately. The only issue I had was that they do not seem to have the timing down as to when they will arrive and how long things will take. We had a few delays but in the end it worked out"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

You can trim just one side of the tree, especially when that side is growing near something like a power line or a home. Pros will carefully trim the tree back until it is safe from that structure. While this is common, it also needs to be done with the utmost care, as pruning or trimming away at one side of the tree may make it structurally unsound. This instance is yet another where hiring a pro is wise, especially if power lines are involved.

Tree roots are hearty and complex systems, so they don’t die immediately after the rest of the tree is removed. If you leave the root system in place, it takes anywhere from two to seven years for it to run out of nutrients. It is worth noting, however, that the roots stop growing and expanding after cutting down the rest of the tree.

There are four common ways to prune a tree correctly: crown thinning, crown reduction, crown raising, and crown cleaning. The method you choose depends on the purpose of pruning. However, making the correct cuts is a vital part of the process, regardless of your method. Pruning incorrectly can damage or even kill the tree. So, you may want to hire a professional tree-trimming company to tackle the task.

Generally, you should prune around 20% of an apple tree’s growth—and never more than 30%. This means that if you have a severely overgrown tree, it can take a few seasons to prune it back enough to produce the healthiest fruit.

If you’re dealing with a newly planted or juvenile tree, hold off on pruning beyond the initial shaping. Wait at least a couple of seasons into fruit production since pruning can increase the number of water sprouts and unproductive foliage.

If you’re looking to rot a tree stump fast, potassium nitrate will work far quicker than copper nails. First, drill several holes into the stump using a power drill, then pour potassium nitrate pellets into the holes. Next, add water to help the chemical absorb into the wood, thoroughly soaking the stump to ensure the pellets dissolve and spread evenly. Afterward, cover the stump with a tarp to retain moisture and block sunlight, then place mulch on top to secure it in place.
