"The actual name of the company is Fences.US Great level of craftsmanship on the install. They ran into numerous issues with my sprinkler system and very large tree roots, but seamlessly called for additional help and only altered the quote by $300. The only downside is that I requested fence boards that match an existing fence, but the new boards were not stained or weather-treated."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

Most residential fence installation projects in Zachary are completed within 2 to 7 days, depending on the fence type, yard size, and weather. Rainy seasons or hurricane threats can extend timelines, especially with the area’s clay soil, which slows digging. Allow extra time for permits and inspections, which typically take several business days. Scheduling installations in fall or winter can help avoid weather-related delays and excessive heat.

Helpful?

In Zachary, fencing installation can impact underground utilities such as water, gas, and sewer lines, which often run close to property boundaries. Before starting, review your property survey and look for visible utility markers or drainage grates. If you notice unusually soft ground, standing water, or resistance while digging, stop immediately—these may indicate buried systems. Always plan your fence layout to maintain proper drainage, especially given Zachary’s heavy clay soil.

Helpful?

To enhance safety for children and pets during fence installation in Zachary, choose self-closing, self-latching gates with latches positioned above a child’s reach. Opt for fence styles with narrow picket spacing and smooth surfaces to prevent climbing or injury. For pets, install fencing at least six feet high, bury the bottom edge to stop digging, and avoid gaps that small animals could squeeze through. Consider shaded areas for pets in hot weather.

Helpful?

In Zachary, fencing projects focus on property boundaries, which may require a survey due to irregular lot shapes. Setback requirements, drainage flow, and soil stability are closely reviewed, especially since local clay soil affects water runoff. Inspect landscaping, proximity to utilities, and any nearby pools. Many neighborhoods in Zachary have HOA or city guidelines for fence height, placement, and approved materials, so always check local regulations before starting.

Helpful?

Planning your fence installation in Zachary with future changes in mind is wise. Select modular fencing systems, like aluminum or vinyl, which can be expanded or relocated as your needs evolve. Install wider gates to allow for lawn equipment or future pool access, and leave clear access to utility meters. Flexible fence layouts make it easier to add features like gardens, sheds, or patios as your property develops.
