"Rep does not respond to calls, texts, emails. Paid $17,000 upfront after 17 months the required engineers drawing submitted and permit obtained. Concrete footer for screen extension poured (at more than twice estimate). Two fence posts were also replaced. Now told screen and roof price increased $13.000 over orig estimate and rep will not explain what the differences were to justify additional cost. He keeps saying I asked for an upgrade, I did not. After getting him on the phone a couple weeks ago, he asked if he could call me back then no call back. After two weeks, I fired him today and now he wants to charge me for work he billed me for that was not done. His name is Peter Evins. I contacted his superior with North Star at their main office months ago when I could not get a response from Peter. He became upset that I was contacting him although I told him Peter was not answering my communications and for what I had paid out I was anxious about this deal. He basically told me never to contact him again to keep contacting Peter."

We have been in business for over thirty years. We have chimney sweeps that have been with us for over ten years. Our knowledge of chimney cleaning, inspecting, and repair is far greater than most chimney companies in the country. We provide the fastest response time in the industry and many times can provide same-day service. We are bonded, licensed, and insured. Our sweeps are subject to, not only going through a rigorous training program but are continually learning new codes, techniques, and requirements that are ever-changing in this industry. We have competitive rates and a payment program for those customers that may need a little help with paying for the repairs. We provide a detailed record of our findings and go over the report with you so you understand what is wrong and why it needs to be fixed, and we never try to push you into making repairs or having maintenance done, we leave that entirely up to you. We place safety above everything else and strive to make your fireplace experience as safe and enjoyable as possible.

Chimney Sweep questions, answered by experts

While it’s not completely necessary for them to operate properly, as the occasional rainfall can rinse away dirt and debris, manually cleaning solar panels from time to time can keep them operating more efficiently.

Dirt, debris, pollen, and bird droppings can collect on the surface of the panels. Depending on the amount of solar panels you have, this can add up over time, so set a regular maintenance schedule. Moreover, if you live in a climate with little to no rainfall, more debris can accumulate, causing inefficiencies that would be clear in your electricity bill.

Regular inspections, cleaning gutters, and replacing broken tiles help extend its lifespan.

Roof raking helps clear snowfall from your roof and, in turn, you hope that this prevents ice dams. But can roof raking actually cause them? Generally, no, it cannot. But you should note that while, in some cases, you might successfully prevent ice dams from forming near the edge of your roof by keeping it cleared with a roof rake, they could still form higher up on the roof, where you are unable to reach. This may leave you wondering: Does roof raking prevent ice dams? While it is not a 100% guaranteed way to prevent them, it does help.

To prep for metal roof painting, have a roof inspection conducted to determine the condition. Complete any repairs required before you paint. Remove the old paint on your metal roof, if any, remove rust and mold with a wire brush, and power wash the surface. Once the roof is clean and dry, start with a primer get painting.

Yes, pros use specialized solutions and pressure settings tailored to surface sensitivity.
