"I was having some allergy issues in our house. Thinking there may be some possible hidden mold in our house, I contacted Duke Restoration. Troy David came over to search the house. He was very thorough, friendly, and helpful doing a complete survey of the house. Not finding any mold, he asked about the filter we had for our air condition and heating system. He suggested that we needed an ultraviolet light. When we told him that we had one in the attic, he went up to check. He found that it had burned out. When he changed it, my allergy issues were much better. He knew exactly how to fix our problem. We were very pleased!"

"I used All American Inspection & Testing for an inspection on the purchase of a new construction home. They were very thorough with their findings, and I received the inspection report quickly after they finished. They found issues on the home, so as a first time home buyer of a new construction home, it raised a red flag. Not only did they do a great job, they saved me THOUSANDS of dollars on purchasing the new home and the potential of spending more money fixing it. Thank you All American Inspection & Testing! I will use them again in the future, and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND them to anyone!"

"Mark called us within minutes of my request to you about mold remediation people. It was two days before anyone else called. He was very knowledgeable about mold and the concerns we had. He went to great lengths to collect his samples in our congested house. However He was pretty unreliable about his appointments though. We were never terribly inconvenienced as we are retired and not busy people but for people who do have other commitments it could have been more stressful.. One other thing is of concern for me. We still havenâ t received the hard copy of the report. He said he emailed it to me which I never looked to find as I just never go there. We are old and this digital age is a mystery to us. I did get it in a text though and can see a report that way but I think properly the report should have been mailed directly from the lab to us. This has left a modicum of suspicion as unfairly as that might seem. What do you think? Mark has called a few times to explain the report and answer any questions we might have."

Mold Testing and Remediation questions, answered by experts

Musty smells often indicate the presence of mold, which can lead to various health risks. Inhalation of mold spores may trigger allergic reactions, causing sneezing, a runny or stuffy nose, and itchy or watery eyes. People who suffer from mold allergies or asthma may experience more severe respiratory problems. Certain types of mold, like black mold, can lead to mycotoxicosis, a condition associated with serious health effects like respiratory problems, fatigue, headaches, and skin irritation if exposure continues for an extended period. Those with weakened immune systems, respiratory problems, or allergies may be more vulnerable to the health risks that come with musty smells. Therefore, it is crucial to address and eliminate the source of the odor promptly.

When doing any type of project involving mold, it's important to wear the right protective gear. You'll want an N-95 or KN-95 mask to keep yourself from inhaling mold spores, which can be irritating or trigger an allergic reaction in people with weakened immune systems. You'll also want to wear protective eyewear and gloves to limit your contact with mold.

The easiest way to know if it’s a leak or evaporation that’s causing low water levels in your pool is by conducting the bucket test. However, you can also monitor the chemicals in your pool for signs of imbalances or conduct a visual inspection of the areas around your pool in search of excessive moisture or cracks.

Although you can run a DIY test for mold inside your home by buying a test kit, you won’t know whether the strain of mold is dangerous. The best way to test for mold in a home is to hire a professional who can determine the specific type of mold that you have. If you’re worried you exposed yourself to mold and it’s making you ill, you could request a health test. Your personal doctor could test your urine, take a nasal swab, or test some body tissue to determine your potential exposure to mold.

Running an air conditioner with mold is not safe because it can spread harmful mold spores throughout your home. Exposure to these spores can trigger various health problems, including respiratory issues, allergies, coughing, wheezing, sneezing, itchy eyes, and a sore throat. It may also aggravate asthma in household members. Continued exposure can increase the risk of more serious illnesses like sinus infections, pneumonia, and bronchitis. If you suspect mold in your air conditioner, you should stop using the system until it has been properly cleaned to avoid health risks and further contamination.
