"Tim, the owner was friendly and he helped us initially pick out the colors. He told us there were roughly ten jobs ahead of us on the listing, and we were ok with that. His crew was nice and helped make the experience good overall. The only side note being that there was some confusion on fascia color which we had picked out. Even so, the issue was corrected and the painting and stain on the posts looks great. "
John DeAngelo was wonderful. He explained exactly what they would do step by step and they did everything he said they would do. They washed down everything and did not put bleached water on the brass adornments on the doors. They also sanded the metal doors that were caused to rust by the previous painter. Not only was the house beautifully painted but the shutters were painted as well (I'd decided to replace them but now there is no need. The little fence and gate I'm planning to replace was also painted. My house now looks wonderful and new. I was told that they would use two coats of paint and at first I expected for something to be shoddy but to my surprise, nothing is. I was guaranteed that the paint job would last at least 20 years and I believe them. Without cost they even repainted my mailbox to match my house. I was so pleased with the work I asked John if he knew anyone that did floors. He said yes and when ready I will definitely consider his recommendation, and I would hire anyone he recommended. The person that finished up the work was very friendly and since having extra time said for a little extra he would paint the deck, which he did. He brought the receipt back for the cost of the paint and that surprised me. I was amazed that nothing was done under cover and he reported to John all that he did.
I would definitely hire them again...especially to paint the inside of my home. Very good recommendation, Angie's List.

"Overall, it went very well. I was very happy that the man who did the estimate was the same man who came out and did the work. Mr. Dupre even came out to my house the Saturday before the job started and applied a sample to make sure the stain color was what I wanted. I live north of Baton Rouge and that (along with traffic) caused Mr. Dupre to be a little late some of the scheduled work days. I did not get a competitive quote because I found very few providers who do actual refinishing and the price seemed reasonable based on the amount of time needed to do the job properly. I don't know if "refacing" would have been cheaper, but I wanted to keep the wood grain pattern and I think "refacing" removes that natural look. Mr. Dupre did need to come back a few days after the job was done to touch up the polyurethane on some of the cabinets. The cabinets are more glossy than I had anticipated, but I am not going to fault Mr. Dupre for this. They look excellent in my opinion. I would definitely recommend Quality Coatings for painting and refinishing.
**Updated. I have been trying to get in touch with Mr. Dupre for two weeks now to change the finish from semi-gloss to matte. No response. Maybe he's very busy with other jobs."

Yes, it's a good idea to sand the wall with fine-grit sandpaper after spackling, especially if you plan on painting. You can do this by hand or using a sander, but the idea is to ensure the spackle is flush with the wall. Sanding will give your wall a smooth, uniform finish and help your paint and wallpaper stay put.
Limewash and whitewash do not harm surfaces if you apply them correctly. Use on non-suitable surfaces can cause issues. For instance, applying limewash or whitewash to surfaces with existing sealants or incompatible materials may lead to poor adhesion or flaking. Also, harsh cleaning agents on limewashed or whitewashed surfaces can damage the finish. Proper preparation, application, and maintenance ensure that limewash and whitewash do not harm surfaces.
You can paint over old paint on a concrete porch. For the best results, you should first clean the surface and remove as much paint as you can. A power washer is helpful here, but you’ll also want to scrape as much of the old paint away as possible. Then you should prime the porch before repainting it.
The best time to paint your deck is when temperatures are neither too cold (below 60 degrees) nor too hot (above 85 degrees). Always paint your deck when there’s no risk of rain. For fast-drying paint like acrylic or latex, ensure your deck can dry for at least four hours. Oil-based paints take longer to dry and may require 48 hours to completely cure.
Stains penetrate wood best when it's cool and dry, so you want to avoid moisture. If the wood is wet upon application, or if it rains before the stain dries, the water will soak into the wood and displace the staining solution. This leads to a flaky and blotchy look, which is the opposite of a sumptuous even coat. Once the stain has fully cured, after about 3 days, rain shouldn’t cause you any problems.
