Having spent most of my time on the Ouachita River, Lake Claiborne, Caney Lake, Lake Ouachita, Lake Hamilton, and Greers Ferry. In 2018, I started helping out with a yearly event where we assemble, install, and use the EZ Dock for the event and was impressed with the product and professionalism the company provided for the event. Since then, several times I have thought about starting a business in Northeast LA that sells EZ Dock and finally getting the time to get the company kicked off and running in 2020! The lake is where I enjoy being the most, let me make it yours as well with an exceptional dock to enjoy the mornings and evenings on overlooking the lake!

Lighting questions, answered by experts

Options include pathway lights, spotlights, and smart lighting systems. Choose based on function and aesthetics.

Your maintenance needs revolve around the type of foundation you choose, as well as how you furnish or decorate it. Patios require little else other than the occasional hose-down, but decks and other wooden structures will require annual power washing and sealing. You may also need to restain the wood every two to three years.

Adding a solid roof rather than building a pergola or leaving the space open will make maintenance much easier. Without a roof, you will need to spend more time sweeping, washing, and covering your furniture to protect it from UV bleaching.

Yes, the outdoors is one of the areas where GFCI is always required. The receptacles used outdoors must have a ground-fault circuit interrupter, or GFCI, for safety reasons. Not only does GFCI make it safer for operation even in wet locations, including bathrooms, outdoors, basements, and other areas, but also they’ll automatically trip if there’s an imbalance in the circuit, keeping you safe from electrocution and decreasing the risk of an electrical fire.

Cold weather can cause older incandescent Christmas lights to fail by causing cracks in the finish or the glass itself. Modern LED lights are affected in the opposite way and perform even better as the temperature drops.

There are tons of different types of landscape lighting available, including the choice between solar and wired, incandescent and LED, and a variety of colors. Specific types of lighting include:

  • Pathway lights: $50–$150 per fixture

  • String lights: $50–$150

  • Low-voltage lights: $90–$150 per fixture

  • Porch lights: $65–$250 per fixture

  • Floodlights: $75–$250 per fixture

  • Downlights: $100–$400 per fixture

  • Uplights: $100–$400 per fixture

  • Security lights: $ 350–$500 per fixture

  • Lamp posts: $400–$1,100 per lamp post
