Our History Our land clearing and forestry mulching services is a single step process by which undesirable vegetation – trees, brush and stumps – is cut and ground into mulch by mobile machinery. The mulch is spread as evenly as possible over the entire cutting area to retard initial re-growth, prevent erosion, and replenish the topsoil base. Unlike other clearing methods, forestry mulching leaves no brush piles, and there is no burning or scarred land. Damage to “keeper” trees is greatly reduced because forestry mulching protects the vital topsoil layer and delicate “feeder” roots. Additional erosion control is almost never required. The landowner is left with a fresh carpet of mulch, which naturally decomposes into rich topsoil. South Alabama Land Clearing and Forestry Mulching also offers Forestry Tilling (Subsoiling) in addition to Mulching. Forestry Tilling transforms clear cuts etc. into ready to plant farm land. This method is unlike traditional types of land clearing. It grinds up everything beneath the surface using it as fertilizer rather than digging it up and burning it. Our company strongly believes in being environmentally friendly. Our debris is never burned or hauled to dumps or left lying around. We put the nutrients back into the ground. At North Alabama Land Clearing and Forestry Mulching our company guarantees satisfaction to all our customers and our continued success is based on our commitment, expertise, and attention to detail on our projects. This results in the level of quality you expect. Call 811 to locate and mark the gas lines at least three days before digging. In many areas, you can dig within 18 inches of the lines, though in some locations, the distance may be further. Check local regulations, as you may need a utility company representative onsite when digging. Document your calls to 811 and precautions taken to avoid gas lines. A homeowner can be held liable for hitting a gas line in some cases, but contacting the proper authorities and following all guidelines can offer protection.
Septic drain lines (or leach lines) are typically buried between 18 and 36 inches underground, and should be at least 6 inches below the surface. These pipes are perforated and surrounded by filtering materials like sand or gravel. Burying the lines at this depth helps minimize odors and allows bacteria and other biological processes in the soil to effectively treat the wastewater. Burying lines too close to the surface can cause issues unless the soil is very compact and stable.
The best method for digging a trench depends on the scope of the project. For a short, shallow trench (less than 2 feet deep) in light, soft soil, digging by hand may be sufficient. However, digging by hand is labor-intensive, so consider the effort required. A machine trencher is the better option for longer trenches (over 100 feet), deeper ones, or when dealing with difficult soil conditions, such as rocky or hard ground, or obstructions like tree roots. A machine can save significant time and energy in these situations.
The best type of soil to build on is a mixture of sand and clay, known as loam soil. Loam soil has the best combination of these soil types to build a foundation on. The clay particles help with water retention, so it won’t erode like sandy soil might, and the sandy particles help with drainage, so you won’t see unsafe soil expansion or have an increased risk of leaks from water sitting against your foundation.
Completion time ranges from days to weeks, contingent on project size, environmental conditions, and regulatory approvals.
