"After submitting a request about my project, Terry reached out to me immediately. I was looking for help with my very small useless front yard after I attempted my own design that ended up in a big mess. He came by and looked at the area and was in contact with me while brainstorming some ideas on how he could transform my small area into something that would be low to no maintenance. The crew surpassed expectations. They created more than only curbing for me, they created a complete design and I haven't even put my finishing touches on it and my neighbor's are admiring the work. Contacting Terry was simple and he was honest and easy to work with. He went above and beyond and answered all of my questions. Whether you are looking for someone to help with a large project or a small one, you should give him a call. I was concerned my project would be too small and possibly not worth his time but he made me feel like I was just as important as any other job he had going on. The quality of the work speaks for itself. I highly recommend Curb Appeal for enhacing your outdoor spaces!"

Customers say: Quick response

"The work I got for the value was great. Other contractors wanted to charge $750 or more for this small repair I needed. These guys only charge what they think is fair for the amount and type of labor they do. I paid less than half what everyone else was going to charge me. I highly recommend them to anyone."

"They worked very hard and went above and beyond to please us. All of the algae came off with very little chemical. We were a little concerned at the amount of gravel that came off the roof. Most likely our fault for not expecting any."

Deck Cleaning questions, answered by experts

No, termites do not eat Trex or any other composite decking brand. Termites eat cellulose, of which composite decking like Trex contains very little compared to natural wood. This feature can help justify the higher Trex decking costs if you live in an area with abundant termites.

A wood deck requires annual cleaning and regular inspections for loose or broken boards, nails, and screws. It should be refinished by applying a stain or sealer every two to three years to protect the wood from water damage, rot, mildew, and sun fading. The exact frequency can depend on the climate and the deck's exposure to sun and moisture. If your deck is painted, it will need repainting approximately every 10 years. Signs that your deck needs refinishing include faded, splintering, or warping boards.

Composite decking might cost more upfront, but it delivers value in terms of durability. Unlike wood, composite material resists common deck problems such as rotting, fading, warping, and all the other things you don’t want a deck to do. The extra processes lead to a higher price tag, but you’ll save big in maintenance costs down the road.

The time to build a vinyl deck varies based on factors like size, the complexity of the design, and weather conditions. Generally, a straightforward project might take a few days to a couple of weeks for preparation, installation, and any necessary inspections. However, larger or more intricate designs may extend the timeline. Timely acquisition of permits, efficient planning, and coordination with contractors will all help to make the construction process as smooth and quick as possible.

In most cases, your deck will need some form of deck footing to hold it in place, preventing moisture from rotting your wood and decreasing your deck’s lifespan. Concrete deck blocks are the most common type of footing for floating decks. Some homeowners use ground-level deck footings. For added security, consider digging and laying your ground-level footings below ground.
