Customers say: Quick response

"The work I got for the value was great. Other contractors wanted to charge $750 or more for this small repair I needed. These guys only charge what they think is fair for the amount and type of labor they do. I paid less than half what everyone else was going to charge me. I highly recommend them to anyone."

"Crystal Clean did a truly awesome job with all of our power washing needs. The job was completed quickly and with extra care to protect our lawn and deck from the cleaning chemicals. Our roof is over 15 years old and now looks new! We are very happy with the quality work done by Clint at Crystal Clean."

"Tony is punctual, courteous, and very thorough! He contacted me for details of what I wanted and gave me an initial estimate the same evening. The next day he came to measure the square footage I wanted clean, then gave me a final quote since I added more square footage I wanted cleaned. The final quote was on Tuesday and he set up services with a timeframe between 12:00-2:00pm for Saturday. He gave me a call at 12:15 to let me know he would be at my place in a half hour. He showed up a half hour later and got to work. He had my driveway, sidewalks, and the walkway to my back yard sparkling. At the end, he noticed that my garage door was heavily oxidized. We were planning on painting it but he asked if we wanted it cleaned to look like new. I said yes and in no time he finished, and it came out great! Don’t have to get it painted! The price was great and the work was above and beyond. I kept his card and he will be my go to and recommendation for my friends, family, and anyone that reads this!"

Deck Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Pressure-treated decks last 15 to 20 years on average, but with proper maintenance, you could get 40 to 50 years of value from yours. Reseal your deck every one to two years, and replace old or rotted wood as soon as possible to avoid structural damage. Where you live plays a role in the lifespan of your deck. Intense sunlight, rainfall, wind, and hail can reduce the deck’s lifespan.

If you want to make a deck cleaner from products already in your home, there are various options. The most common is to use a gentle blend of 1 gallon of warm water and 2 tablespoons of ammonia-free dish soap. You can also mix water with distilled vinegar. Sprinkling on some baking soda can help to remove mold and mildew. You can add oxygen bleach (but never damaging chlorine bleach) to the water and ammonia-free dish soap solution for something a bit stronger.

The overhang, or nosing, of deck steps is another area that will be covered in building code requirements. The noses on your deck steps should have a minimum overhang of ¾ inch. For safety, usability, and code compliance, the nosing of deck steps should not extend past 1¼ inches.

Your deck may look or feel fuzzy after pressure washing because the high-pressure spray tears some wood fibers as it removes the outer layer of dead and discolored wood. This fuzzy effect is a normal part of the pressure-washing process and will go away on its own in a few weeks. You can opt to spot-sand your deck if you’d like to remove it more quickly.

Composite decking may never warp, or it may warp quickly. Several factors can influence the rate of warping, including the material's quality, installation method, and installation location. Generally speaking, high-quality materials that have been installed properly are drastically less prone to warping.
