"Mr. Robert did a very good job with the drywall repair and painting work. The cost estimate was very reasonable among other contractors in the Mount Juliet, Tennessee area. He was very willing and obliged for a free estimate, which I really liked. Mr. Robert is very responsive to questions and has kept his time commitments, he is easy to communicate with and willing to provide suggestions and guidance on how to go about the project work. Overall, I am very pleased with the quality of the drywall repair and painting work (ceiling, and walls). I will not hesitate to hire him again to repaint my whole house."

My business is small consisting of three employees. We do not subcontract any work it is all performed by us. We do all work based on a written contract. There is generally an estimate given up front. I require that all materials for any job be paid up front and labor expenses be paid after job is finished. All payments made should be made via cash, debit or credit card, check or money order.

Plaster Repair questions, answered by experts

You can skim coat plaster, but it’s better to repair the plaster itself. A skim coat is a thin coat of drywall joint compound spread over the surface of a wall. The result is a flat finish that looks pleasing, but part of the appeal of plaster is its imperfections and aesthetic. Skim coating is best when limited to drywall applications.

Installing or repairing plaster on ceilings differs slightly from performing the same motions on a wall. You’ll apply slightly less plaster to lower the overall weight of the ceiling. Wall texturing is common, whereas most ceilings are smooth plaster. Tough coat plaster is strong, meaning you can use less while retaining a solid surface.

Wondering who to call for ceiling repair? While you can hire a handyperson to fix minor cracks, you’ll want to hire a drywall professional for larger issues. Depending on the cause of the crack, you may need to hire other contractors, such as a foundation contractor, mold remediation company, roofer, or plumber near you.

Ceiling-mounted curtains won’t damage the ceiling if they’re installed properly. Using the right anchors or securing the brackets into joists will ensure the curtain weight is properly supported and prevent damage. However, overtightening screws, using weak anchors, or repeatedly removing and reinstalling hardware in the same spot can cause cracking or sagging over time. In that case, you might have to call a pro for ceiling repair.

Plaster is a pretty tough surface, but it can still sustain damage from things like bumping against it, water issues, dampness, extreme humidity changes, and plain old age. Most plaster walls last hundreds of years and will only be taken down to the base layer when major repairs are required. Being cautious around the wall, not placing furniture against it, and ensuring stable humidity are all great ways to reduce possible damage.
