The common alternative is adding a sand or gravel layer under a concrete slab to enhance bonding and create a stable foundation. The right choice depends on the height and thickness of your two slabs, local laws, and the use of the specific concrete slab.

The trick to getting a smooth finish when pouring concrete is to smooth the surface of the concrete with a magnesium float. This tool helps bring the finer, smoother aggregate to the surface for a cleaner finish. Don’t overdo the floating process, though, or the slab can become weaker and start to scale.

When you don’t seal concrete, the colors and designs fade, water marks appear, and stains penetrate from the top layer to the lower layers, making them difficult to remove.
