"I saw Fitzsimmons Awnings on line after a few bad experiences with other awning companies (not calling back, wanting us to come to their facility to see how awnings are made BEFORE they would come out and measure, or take the job, etc., etc.). When I completed the questionaire on the Fitzsimmons site. I received a call almost immediately from John Fitzsimmons. He said he'd be out the next day and show me samples, measure the space(s), etc. It was all done in a matter of 30 minutes or so. He told me that they were booked for 30 days before they could get to my awnings. Sure enough, after 30 days, I received a couple of calls and they were actually installing them a few days later. I love look of the awnings! They are well made, beautiful and they fit perfectly. They took out a few small trees, as I had asked and they cleaned up all of the branches and debris and hauled it away. As nice and efficient as they were, I would recommend them to everyone! It was a wonderful experience and our home looks great! Thanks, Fitzsimmons!"

"We had them do a stamped concrete patio in the back of our home. They did an Italian slate pattern with a charcoal grey colored finish. It turned out amazing. We have a lot of get togethers at our house and get compliments from all of our friends and family! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to get a concrete patio for entertaining at your house!"

"Enrique responded promptly to my request for a quote-was professional, respectful and polite. He first asked what I wanted to achieve and then measured and made recommendation on how best to achieve what I wanted to do. He explained every step it would take to complete the job and which correlated precisely with industry standards for driveway concrete. I already had a good idea of what reasonable cost would be. A & R's quote was reasonable and right on target for my budget. He scheduled a date and time to start the job and estimated how long it would take to complete. There were a total of three scheduled visits to complete the job. Enrique and his crew arrived on time and ready to work whether the task was escavating, framing, spreading or sealing. The results look great. I could not be more pleased."

Patios questions, answered by experts

The average cost to enclose a patio to create a sunroom is around $5,000, and prices generally range from $3,000 up to $10,000. The price you pay will depend on the state of your patio and whether it needs repairs or additional structural support, the quality of the materials you choose, the size of your patio, and whether you plan to run utilities into and finish the sunroom. The price for a fully finished patio enclosure could run up to around $20,000, while you might pay just $2,500 for a screened-in porch.

In most parts of the U.S., adding a screened-in porch requires a building permit. Since this type of project often involves structural work and changes to your home’s footprint, homeowners should adhere to local guidelines. That said, permit rules can vary widely depending on where you live and how extensive the project is. Before you start sketching out plans or ordering materials, check in with your city or county’s building department to avoid headaches, fines, and potential structural issues down the line.

Building a sunroom is usually less expensive than the cost of building a home addition, but it depends on the type of sunroom. A four-season sunroom will cost more than a home addition because it’s basically a home addition with larger, more expensive windows. All other types of sunrooms will be more affordable than a home addition of an equivalent size because they don’t have insulation, heating, cooling, electrical connections, or plumbing.

An Arizona room may or may not count toward your home’s square footage, depending on local regulations and the specifics of the room, but generally does not get included in the total square footage. In many locations, a room needs to be built to the same quality as the rest of the home, have an integrated heating/cooling system, and be habitable year-round to count toward square footage.

You can start your search for a reputable patio company by finding providers in your area with positive ratings online and few, if any, complaints filed with the Better Business Bureau (BBB). Once you narrow down your search, contact the companies and ask for examples of their past work, as well as a list of references. The examples will show you the quality of the work you can expect and how professional the finished product will be, and contacting previous customers will give you an idea of the service you can expect throughout the process.
