"Tim with Tristate Service Home Repair responded quickly to my request for service and had one of the company’s employees scheduled and at my home in good time. Repair work was done professionally and using the right materials for the job. I had additional projects completed as a result of how well the original work was done. I’m impressed with Tristate Service and Home Repair and recommend them for any of your home repairs."

"Our patio project went very well and ended up being better than we envisioned. Chris was great at listening to what we were looking for and offering up ideas and advice to get it done how we wanted. His team is very skilled, professional and willing to answer questions and confirm everything was how we wanted it. Chris was very upfront about our options and prices for everything involved. Remark is a great and upcoming business and I would recommend them for your project. We will certainly contact them again if we do any more large improvement projects."

"I spoke to Mr. Prince by phone, and we scheduled an appt for the beginning of next week, Mr. Prince then called back a few hours later to say that he had a cancellation. and said that he was in the neighborhood and was available to complete the necessary work. I explained that I had a Dr's appt but if he could do the work even though I was not home, I said I would be there as soon as possible. He agreed. to start the work. I returned home and Mr. Prince was cleaning up as it started to rain. . He showed me the repairs that he had completed. We talked for a few minutes, and he told me about his company and what work they did. He was friendly and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend him and his company. to friends and neighbor that needed his service"

"My name is Wesley, and I am a military Veteran. I recently utilized my VA Home Loan Benefits to purchase a brand new home for me and my son. Typically, one would not anticipate having any foundation defects or waterproofing issues when purchasing a brand new home. However, this was not the case with us. We had major issues with our basement, every time that it rained. I decided to reach out to CSI for assistance. They came out to my home in Somerset, KY and thoroughly inspected my basement. After assessing what the problem was, they quoted me an exceptionally reasonable price, and within one week; my problem was solved. I am completely satisfied with the quality of service that I received from CSI, and I would recommend this company to anyone in Kentucky who is having issues with the their home's foundation or issues with any type of leaks in your basement. CSI can be reached at (888) 857-0007, or at [email protected]. P.S. Tell'em dat "Big Wes" sent'chu. OORAH!!"

"James and Jaime were very helpful with replacing all of my closet doors. The price was fair, they took their time and even made recommendations on other jobs we’re looking to do without being pushy. The father and son duo work together well, they are very prompt and accommodating. We’re definitely hiring them for a few more projects! You won’t be disappointed."

Barndominium Builders questions, answered by experts

Building a barndominium means converting a barn into a house. Barndominiums are becoming popular as spacious and stylish alternatives to typical housing structures. Old barns that become houses traditionally consist of wooden construction. However, newer structures, such as pole barns, often contain metal exteriors and roofs. Converting a metal outbuilding into a house presents an excellent opportunity to create a barndominium from metal.

Tiny houses, often called tiny homes, need between 100 to 400 square feet, with the most common size being between 200 and 300 square feet. Tiny houses more than 400 square feet venture into apartment-size dwellings and may be considered more of a traditional house than a tiny home. The number of occupants, desired lifestyle, and furniture will all be major factors that determine the desired tiny house size.

Building a tiny house is the least complicated way to build, especially if you’re tackling the project as a DIY. The smaller size means less complex plans, more straightforward utility installation, and fewer ways to make costly errors. Tiny homes still need to conform to building codes and often have other applicable regulations, so be sure to get the proper permits and confirm your build is by the book.

Whether you should choose a flat roof or a sloped roof depends on your particular situation. Flat roofs tend to be less expensive to install. However, sloped roofs have longer lifespans and stand up better to heavy snow and other inclement weather.

Keep in mind that even a flat roof needs to have a slight slope, usually around 1/2 inch for every foot. If it is completely flat, water will pool and cause damage, either from weight or leakage or rot.

While building a treehouse isn’t necessarily a death sentence, damaging the trunk is one of the ways to kill a tree. If you’re concerned about the tree, opt for a treehouse support system rather than attaching it directly to the trunk. This may involve using bolts and brackets to affix the structure to the tree's branches or establishing a standalone support system that remains unattached to the tree.
