Small jobs welcome

"All of the employees were respectable, hard workers. They got the job done quickly and efficiently. When they finished the floor, they had left behind a tremendous job and smiling faces. I would recommend them to anyone needing the same results"

"We had purchased  a big deal for the service. The rugs look good, but I am not sure they rinsed out the soap that they put in carpet. They used a machine that put the cleaner and water in the carpet, and another guy came with a big vacuum machine, and vacuumed up the water, but I never saw any mechanism to rinse all the soap out of the carpet. If there is a lot of soap left in the carpet, it will attract a lot of dirt. Where another company that I used before, have a mechanism which puts the cleaner on, and then rinses it. I put my carpets in less than a year ago, and I feel that they will attract a lot of dirty, and now I feel like I should call the other company to come out and clean the soap. I had a hard time setting up the schedule after I bought the big deal."

Carpet Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can negotiate the purchase price of new carpet. You may also be able to negotiate installation costs or other fees in addition to the per-foot pricing of the carpet itself. You may have better luck negotiating with an independent retailer (as opposed to a big-box store), as they may have more discretion in pricing, but it’s always worth asking.

Costs depend on carpet quality, labor, underlayment, and furniture moving requirements.

Installing carpet on stairs involves a lot more cutting, tucking, tack strips, and time. The shape of your staircase, along with the material and construction of the carpet you’re installing, will also increase the cost. Carpet installation on stairs will cost $400 to $800 in total, but it can go as high as $2,500 for difficult staircases, such as wrap-around, upholstered, or spiral staircases.

When it comes to flooring installers, licensing laws vary from state to state. Even if your state doesn’t require your flooring installer to have a license, your municipality or city might, so it’s a good idea to check with your town before getting started. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local general contractor guidelines.

Hiring an unlicensed flooring installer could lead to poor quality work, costly future expenses, and potential code violations.

As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:

  • The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check

  • Required to have applicable state and local licenses

  • Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review

  • Paying to advertise their services

  • Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi

Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.

Avoid placing carpet in the bathroom or the kitchen. After all, moisture is no friend to carpeting. Beyond that, it’s down to personal preference. Some people dislike when a garage or basement features carpet, but others enjoy it.
