"They got the job done in good time and the result was what I wanted. They offered good advice and were very helpful along the way. The neighbors all approve of the results. The price was reasonable. I highly recommend them for any landscaping, tree work, and landscaping. They are pleasant to work with."

"Showed up in the time frame and did an amazing job. They cleaned out the chimney and inspected it for any damage or repaires that it may need. They did reset the damper for me and after they finished they took the equipment and left. Besides a clean chimney you couldnt tell that they were ever here."

Small jobs welcome

"Ian and his crew did an excellent job on my property! They were here on time, did the job exactly as I requested and in a timely manner, stuck to the price we negotiated and were very respectful and pleasant to deal with! Will be using again in the future!! The main thing when doing business is to make sure both parties write down what is expected! Ive seem too often that people are quick to take advantage of each other but that was not even a concern with Ian at Big Man Lawn Care! Thank You for a Job Well Done!!!"

Leaf Removal questions, answered by experts

The safest way to remove lead-based paint is by letting a professional take over. For most people, lead paint removal costs an average of $3,400. You should never attempt to dry sand old lead-based paint surfaces by hand. Most professionals use a paint stripper to do the job followed by wet scraping, but if you don’t want to remove lead paint, another option is to paint over it. Only consider this option if the old lead paint finish isn’t flaking or cracked.

While not all homes built before 1978 contain lead paint, enough do, so you’ll still want to test to be on the safe side. The federal government banned lead-based paint for homes in 1978, but your state may have banned lead before that time. Around 24% of homes built between 1960 and 1977 contained lead-based paint, while 87% of homes built before 1940 contained lead-based paint.

When a surface that contains lead dust is disturbed, the dust can float about in the air for roughly an hour before settling again. Since you cannot see the dust, it is important always to wear protective gear when working with any materials that may contain lead paint and to keep children, pets, and others away from the area for as long as possible

It is safe to remove old linoleum, but it may require the help of a specialist due to the risk of asbestos in the material. Before you cut into linoleum or try to peel it up, have it tested for asbestos. If it tests positive, professionals will need to remove it to prevent the risk of health issues from airborne toxic particles. If it’s asbestos-free, DIY removal is possible and safe.

Exterior paint contains a higher level of VOCs, which can be dangerous if you’re exposed to it for a long period of time. The good news is that paint’s toxicity reduces significantly once fully dried and cured. Do not keep open exterior paint cans in your home, basement, or garage, exposing your household to harmful chemicals over time.
