"Above & Beyond is primarily electrical work, but I picked them for some handyman work that needed to be completed quickly. They called, made arrangements and completed all tasks on the same day. Although they are more costly than the average Handyman rate - the customer service, and willingness to meet my needs was worth the charge."

"He came to inspect job first. I told Clayton the brand & type I wanted and I told him I would buy them (2) myself. We set a date and he came on time and installed both and is taking the old one's. He cleaned and prepped the area and cleaned up after. Very fine gentleman. Great upbringing, use to hard work, and pleasing his customer's. Let me set the date, I let him set the time. Will use him again on my water heater project and maybe on a water softener."

Holiday Decorating FAQs, answered by experts

Between seasons, inspect cords for damage, replace burnt-out bulbs, and clean lighting fixtures to prevent dirt buildup. Proper storage in cool, dry conditions will extend the lights' lifespan and minimize repairs or replacements when redeployed.

The average cost to have a professional install Christmas lights on a roof is about $420, with most homeowners spending between $220 and $650. Some companies may charge between $1.25 and $3 per square foot, excluding the cost of the lights. For extensive or complex jobs, the cost can exceed $1,000. While doing it yourself can save money, it is only recommended if you are comfortable working at heights.

Inspect for burnt-out bulbs, secure connections, and protect from water exposure to maintain functionality.

During the holidays, big box hardware stores sell many kinds of clips and hooks made specifically for hanging Christmas lights—including ridge clips, gutter clips, shingle clips, and mounted hooks. It’s best to avoid nails, staples, and screws since they can damage your roof.

Nails are a popular choice for hanging string lights, but they are not the only option. Use outdoor hooks, zip ties, or even awning hangers to string up lights outdoors. For indoor lights, use simple tacks, zip ties, damage-free adhesive hooks, or drawing pins. When all else fails, just wrap the lights around some furniture or outdoor fixtures.
