"We are totally satisfied with the job done by Maass Masonry. The job was done exactly as we discussed; personable and professional workers who did an excellent, timely job with great attention to detail. We were called the same day as when I posted the job. Estimate was given and job completed in about two weeks. We highly recommend Maass Masonry. We never thought anyone would want to do what seemed a small job to some but huge to us. We would not hesitate to recommend this business to anyone!"

"I needed a lot of foundation work done--adjustable jacks, stabilizing piers, geo-lock wall anchors and carbon steel stripping along my foundation. Peak Structural was amazing. From the receptionist who answered my panicked phone call the first day to my sales person, Tim Miller, who made special trips to my home and responded to me on weekends, to the crew who actually performed the work (Greg, Spenser and Brandon), who went above and beyond to repair a broken sprinkler line all the way to Brayden my project manager who communicated with me constantly, was very accommodating and was always one step ahead of me. I can't say enough about Peak Structural. They secured the foundation of my home for life and gave me much needed peace of mind."

"Make sure you ask questions. After getting a clear understandable explanation of why and what they were doing, I felt I was getting my money's worth. They were a bit pricey. Workers were prompt, courteous and were careful of our property."

"We needed some major work on our driveway and had reached out to a company. After almost 5 weeks of almost no communication I gave up and found Anthony. He did such an incredible job. He kept us informed of every step of the way. He spent time going over every thing that was going to be done, how it was to be done and he kept his word. He let us know every day when he would be here and he worked all day. He is intelligent and solved all the issues we were dealing with. We would definitely hire Anthony again. He is fair priced, very personable and does an excellent job."

"Kyle Larson at 316 Custom Landscaping was great to work with. My folks gravel drive had seen better days. With the added moisture we had it was pretty much like driving into a mud pit. Kyle explained everything and had an estimate to me the same day. We tweaked the job a bit, and he was very kind about it. He put us on his schedule and the job got done in a timely fashion. He’s very good about staying in contact thru the whole process. I wouldn’t hesitate in giving his name to anyone I know."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Do not use super glue to hang lights on brick unless you want your lights up year-round. Hot glue is a better choice because it’s easily removable with a small amount of rubbing alcohol. Super glue is very hard to remove, and you could tear off parts of the brick in the removal process.

Use fire bricks for a brick pizza oven. These bricks are typically used for fireplaces and chimneys as they can withstand high temperatures from heat sources. If you attempt to use any other kind of bricks, it’s likely that this material will crack from such high heat exposure in the best case—and potentially explode and cause serious harm in the worst case.

Yes, as long as the cut is clean and the brick remains structurally sound, you can reuse it. Reusing brick is especially common for landscaping, edging, and small masonry repairs. Just make sure to file down any sharp edges before handling or installing it.

It is possible, albeit a lot slower, to break up a rock using water. You would do this by freezing and thawing the water. You could create some initial holes or cracks in the rock, then pour water into the cracks or holes and allow them to freeze (so it's best to do this in winter or in colder climates). Since water expands when it freezes, this puts pressure on the inside of the rock and causes it to crack. You could continue to pour more water in and let it freeze to continue to break up the rock.

You should clean your home’s brick once per year. This applies to exterior brick, but also to cleaning brick fireplaces. Create a homemade cleaning solution with equal parts vinegar and water. Use a soft-bristle brush to scrub the solution into the face of your brick and remove dirt, algae, and stains. Cleaning will protect brick from damage and boost your home’s curb appeal.
