"Concrete was poorly done 2 years ago, the color was light grey compared to new concrete pored by an another company. Finish was smooth rather than brushed for traction, concrete was sprayed all over back home wall and grill. Parts were higher than others so not a great grade. Concrete cracked within 1 year and completely failed by year 2. Top lift off and crumbling. Mario said he’d take care of it but months went by without resolve, delays and ignoring communications. Do not recommend this company."

If your asphalt driveway shows cracks, potholes, or standing water, it’s likely time for a repair. Cracks, big or small, let water seep in, weakening the base and causing further damage. Potholes are a sign of this weakening process in action while standing water suggests your driveway has poor drainage, which can cause even more issues. Though they may look similar, tar and bitumen come from different sources. Bitumen is a petroleum product—extracted during crude oil refining—and is mostly made up of hydrocarbons. Tar comes from burning down organic materials like coal or wood. Bitumen is strictly oil-based, while tar is a mix of compounds from natural sources. If you live somewhere with extreme weather, plan to reseal your driveway every two years—heavy rainfall and freezing temperatures can deteriorate the sealant quickly.

Driveway installation is challenging. While chip seal might sound easier to apply than asphalt, the process still involves heavy machinery and professional skills. Unless you come from a construction background, we recommend hiring an asphalt company to chip seal your new driveway. If you are paving the driveway entirely with chip seal, expect to pay $5 to $10 per square foot.

Driveway sealcoating costs around $500 on average, or between $1.25 and $1.50 per square foot for materials and labor. Most homeowners pay between $250 and $800 for this service. Your project price will depend mostly on the size of your driveway, the type of sealant, how much pressure washing or treatment is required before sealing, and the number of coats of sealant applied to your driveway. Most sealants come in 5-gallon or 55-gallon units, with up to 500 square feet of coverage per 4 gallons.
