"I hired Alex and his partner Jose for a large drywall repair job. Their estimate was very reasonable and I’m very happy with the quality of their work. They stayed on budget, on time, and communicated very well! Would not hesitate to hire them again."

"Out of four referrals, only two responded and only Brian took the time to come out and personally meet with me and evaluate the job. He was not the lowest bid but I felt he was the most professional. He and his crew came in did the taping, textured the ceiling and were done and cleaned up in a total of about 5 hours over the course of three days. They did a great job. After paint I see not problem. Highly recommend Brian and his crew."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Costs depend on labor, material quality, wall preparation, and finishing requirements.

You do not need to drywall over most types of garage insulation. However, doing so can increase noise reduction, make the space more attractive, and keep children and pets from touching harmful fiberglass insulation. If you’re using cellulose or some other type of blown-in insulation (fiberglass and mineral wool are common), you will need drywall to contain the insulation material.

You can put drywall mud over paint to even out the surface or entirely resurface it. Sand the surface with 280-grit sandpaper, vacuum the debris and dust with a shop vac, and clean it with a slightly damp cloth. Allow the surface to dry. Apply drywall primer, especially if you’re skim-coating an entire wall. Apply the right type of drywall mud over the surface and smooth it with a trowel. Allow the layer to cure fully, then sand it before applying another layer or painting it.

Brick and stucco are a lot more different. You must use picture hanging clips designed for brick walls, or use a plaster rail system with adjustable hooks. Any other type of hanging hardware will cause damage to the bricks behind. You won’t be able to really use nails, either, because they’re not strong enough to go into the bricks.

Wall anchors are suitable for drywall and plaster walls, which are common in most homes. However, different wall materials may require specialized anchors. For concrete or masonry walls, you'd typically use concrete anchors. When dealing with other wall types, such as brick or tile, specific anchors designed for those materials may be necessary. Always consult with a hardware specialist or check the manufacturer's recommendations to ensure you select the appropriate anchors for your specific wall type.
