"The first thing they did was to come out and talk to us about what we were wanting. They took pictures of the existing landscaping, then sent us pictures of what it would look like with the ideas that we together came up with. We were going to have the work done in the fall of 2017, but with Hurricane Harvey doing damage to our son & daughter-in-law's house in Houston, we requested that the work be delayed until spring. Integrity was very accommodating our request . The guys came in the spring and their work was exactly what we wanted. We couldn't be more pleased with the end results."

Pavers and Hardscaping questions, answered by experts

The most common causes of sunken pavers are poor base preparation and insufficient compaction. The problem could also be how your pavers were installed. If the soil beneath your patio or walkway wasn't compacted, it will pull pavers down as it settles. Additionally, using bare soil instead of making a paver bed with compacted gravel and sand can cause sinking over time. To fix sunken pavers, consider recompacting the base and addressing any drainage or erosion issues in the area.

A paved driveway adds $5,000 to $7,000 to the value of your home. That’s because it increases your curb appeal and the functionality of your outdoor space, which appeals to potential buyers.

One of the best cleaning solutions for pavers is your standard dish soap and water. Dish soap is gentle yet effective at cleaning light stains off the surface of your pavers without compromising the appearance, protective layer, or structure of the pavers.

You can put pavers over concrete following a similar procedure as above, but there are a few additional risks you need to be aware of—like stability, drainage, and the patio’s thickness. Once you lay a paver patio over concrete, it will be nearly impossible to treat any issues that your concrete may face, like cracks or water pooling. So while you may save some time and money on concrete removal and site prep, it may cost you more in the long run.

A paver patio will add more value than a concrete patio. Pavers are a more commonly preferred option from an aesthetic and longevity point of view, so most buyers will be willing to pay more for a paver patio than they would for a concrete one. Pavers also don’t require a permanent foundation, so they won’t increase your property taxes. Buyers also prefer lower property taxes, so that will play into the ROI you’ll see, too.
