"What a great experience! Bill kept us in the loop throughout the whole job explaining each step and where he was at each day until complete. We had new porch posts and railing installed along with our deck power washed, sanded and repainted and other areas on the house repainted. His work is impeccable and we would definitely hire him again. In fact, our neighbors were so impressed with his work they intend to hire him also!! Thx you Bill"

"Awesome local small business! They were on time, knowledgeable, efficient, great with communication, and my fence looks gorgeous. Price was comparable (slightly less) than other companies I called, and seemed very fair considering the cost of material and hours they put in. Would definitely hire them again and highly recommend to anyone needing a new fence or deck sealed or old wood in need of refreshing."

"The painting was excellent, the guys masked everything really well, took care of not over-painting anything and laid down barriers not to stain the floor. A+ for this portion. The floor was done OK, in retrospect,  I wish I had known more about the work required before the job began.  These folks have done this work in the past however it seemed to me like their core competency was painting and not floor refinishing.  it looks nice however I think it could have looked even better if the experience had been there. The lower marks on responsiveness and punctuality were given because they did not show up exactly at the time convened, also, the job was finished 2 days after the date they had agreed for completion.  Only one man was at the house working for the first couple days until I put more pressure on them to finish. I have the feeling that this company is typically really busy, it took me a while to get in touch with them to quote the job. Once it was quoted, the work began on schedule."

Deck Maintenance questions, answered by experts

Both a well-constructed deck and a patio can add value to your home. Patios are generally cheaper to build but don’t offer the same aesthetics as a quality deck. Therefore, decks can be more appealing to buyers than patios, increasing a home's resale value.

A covered deck can be a good investment that increases your home value—especially if you live in a hot region with a lot of sun. A covering over the deck means you can get more use out of it, even on the hottest summer days. With a permanent deck covering, you can even add ceiling fans to help cool down your deck for added comfort.

Some elevated decks require stairs that lead to the ground level per the local fire codes in some municipalities. In other regions, a staircase is an optional feature that can increase accessibility and convenience for homeowners who want ground-level access to their deck. Additionally, a staircase is necessary if your home doesn't have an existing door leading to the deck.

Yes, you can build a deck over your outdoor HVAC unit, but you need to leave at least 5 feet of vertical clearance above the unit. If you don’t want your deck to be that high off the ground, you could build a floating deck in another part of your yard—again, as long as you leave at least 4 feet of horizontal space between the deck and your AC unit.

Cold temperatures can make your deck boards contract. If they don’t contract evenly, they can put pressure on the deck screws and cause them to pop out, making a noticeable sound. Winterizing your deck can help prevent this from happening.
