"We cannot say enough great things about Tristate Complete Home Repair! We just finished up a partial renovation of the interior of our Hoosier Homestead farmhouse, and Tristate did a fabulous job! The house had spent decades under the care of our aging parents, so it needed a lot of careful attention to update nearly everything without compromising the unique historical beauty of the house. Owner Tim of Tristate brought decades of renovation experience to our project, leading a crew of workers representing all the trades. This meant fewer delays and mistakes on our project. No regrets here. We look forward to future work from Tristate!"

"Great guy👍. He was professional, respectful, and communicated well from start to finish. You can tell he genuinely cares about doing quality work. He did an amazing job cleaning my porch—it looks better than I expected. I’d definitely hire him again and highly recommend him to anyone looking for someone reliable."

"The workers that came out were so respectful. They put in so much effort to make sure the driveway, sidewalks and porch were so clean. I couldn't believe how dirty the water was. The house was washed also so clean now. This is the best company I have ever hired. Believe me I have hired a lot in the past year. New roof, deck, excavation company etc. This company really stood out above all!!"

"I called Maximus Contracting about needing a new roof because of hail/wind damage.  I needed it quickly because we're selling the house soon, and I didn't have a big budget to work with because I received less from my insurance company than I was expecting.  Eric called back quickly and gave me a very reasonable estimate for the work.  The new shingles are of better quality than my original roof, and it looks great.  I finalized my shingle choice with Eric, and the crew completed the work the very next day.  Eric even came out to my office a couple times because my schedule doesn't often allow me to be at home during the day.  All in all, it was a great experience.  I feel confident that I received a great value, and the customer service was exceptional.  I would highly recommend using this company!

"UPDATE: Mike was to come back and seal the fence. He did not do this nor did he return any phone calls or emails about this. Very Disappointing. I guess we shouldn't have paid him the full amount until he came back and sealed the fence. Mike's pricing was a little bit higher but due to the customer service he gave compared to the other larger companies we are having him do the fence and are signing the contract tonight. We are very impressed with him. thank you!"

"It went very well, the service was prompt and professional, they paid attention to the details of what I needed done. They were mindful of my pets, and respectful of my property, they pulled weeds, laid down some new liner and mulch on my landscape, mowed my yard, and extended my privacy fence so that it would enclose my back yard and give a more private feel to our swimming pool."

Deck Maintenance questions, answered by experts

Composite decking requires a solid foundation, substructure, or subframe to ensure stability. This base is typically composed of posts, beams, joists, and footings. The frame's joists can be built from various materials like composite, plastic, timber, or metal, as long as the base can support the deck's weight without shifting. A professional deck builder might recommend installing the frame on a solid concrete base for added durability. The final design and materials for the substructure will depend on your budget, the type of deck, and environmental conditions.

Pressure-treated decks last 15 to 20 years on average, but with proper maintenance, you could get 40 to 50 years of value from yours. Reseal your deck every one to two years, and replace old or rotted wood as soon as possible to avoid structural damage. Where you live plays a role in the lifespan of your deck. Intense sunlight, rainfall, wind, and hail can reduce the deck’s lifespan.

The best way to sand a deck is by cleaning it, sanding the boards and stairs with 60- or 80-grit sandpaper, and sanding the railings and posts with 80-grit sandpaper. You should sand in the direction of the wood grain to avoid damaging the timber. When sanding your deck, use medium pressure and aim for an even sand. Pressing too hard with a sander can damage decks, as most are softwoods.

Yes, designing builds to fit space constraints and meet functional needs.

Pressure-treated decking may be worth it if you want a natural, insect- and rot-resistant decking material that will last for decades with proper maintenance. As such, it’s a much better option than untreated pine. Alternative wood decking materials like cedar and redwood tend to be less durable and more expensive. Some homeowners prefer composite decking, which is a low-maintenance alternative to wood but is also more costly.
